Posted in the scrapbox cuz I want at least half the maps done before getting a thread in the showcase. That and I haven't enough posts to put in pictures.

So, yeah. this is a hack idea I've been putting on the mental equivalent of the back-burner for awhile now, that I really feel I need to do.

    Hack of:
    Fire Red

    Features I hope to implement:
-The choice to be either a Ranger or an E4 apprentice, mid-game,
-New Region, called Mello,- currently doing,
-New Pokemon types, Sound and Rubber,
    -new graphics,
-Entirely new story, inspired by the Pokemon Special manga,
-The Elite 4 like they are in the regular games are now the Symphony Challengers, since the Elite 4 is the name of the new criminal team.
-Towns are based on different music scenes (example: J-pop Island has a lot of anime references, Trance city is inside a giant warehouse, etc.)
-A total of four Fakemon, only two of which have evolutions, which are the rubber types, one is a new type of Unown, and one is the legendary.
-New music (If I can get my sister or someone to make some MIDIs. I suck at music theory)
-Instead of a bike, you get an electric scooter. The Bumblebee model for the boy and the Flower Power model for the girl.

I want this to be very different, visually, from other Pokemon games. I want more cartoony graphics, the region to be a rocky, kinda-snowy in parts mountain, and the maps to be a little more organic.

Story (Summary of what I've written so far)
In Purple Music you are already an established trainer living in your hometown, Note, in the Mello region. Shortly after the game begins, your best friend breaks into Prof. Yew, your neighbor's Pokemon Lab and he steals all the Pokemon. A Pokemon Ranger is called and you receive a Pokemon (Treecko, Cyndaquil, or Squirtle) and help the ranger corner your friend in the forest by Note Town. After a battle your friend escapes, but not before mentioning the Elite 4.

Later, at Yew's lab, the Ranger compliments you on your battle skills and offers to administer a test so you can become a Pokemon Ranger. You accept and you now head out to collect the Test Certificates, which you need eight of to enter the upper levels of the Ranger HQ to take your final exam.

Along the way you meet the Elite 4 and their apprentices, though you really don't know who they are, but they seem to appear in every city. The only one who doesn't have an apprentice is Agatha (Who you only know as "that old woman").

At about halfway through the game, you are given a choice. Go to the Elite 4, who are using terroristic methods to free Pokemon from their masters, or join the Rangers, who protect the people but abuse their Pokemon.

I haven't written anything past this but I have quite a few ideas.

This is, also, not going to be as epic as some stories. The story is going to focus on characters, not cataclysmic events.

    What I've done:
I've edited the exteriors and interiors of Note town and some of Route one and The Grey Forest.

Any suggestions or tips are welcome, and I need all the help I can get. Mostly with scripting. If someone could teach me, that'd be awesome.

I was wondering which types would be effective against sound... lol... Oh well... Good luck with it!

Oh ok, BTW, you were creative to choose starters from different generations (yay! Squirtle!)... maybe I can help you with beta-testing... if that's okay with ya...

Either pokedex or hex editing or something similar. I think I've seen it before.
