I've gotten some ideas recently, and decided to combine the two together. I was recently inspired by a discussion I had with another member to play Pokemon Silver, and not long after a new user posted an idea for a new kind of Nuzlocke. They called it an Art-locke, basically you play by the normal nuzlocke rules and every time you catch a pokemon, you have to make an art piece inspired by that pokemon. It can be any medium you want. There are also additional optional rules they suggested, which sounded like a lot of fun, though for now I'm just following the basic rules they outlined. Be sure to check out the post that the artlocke idea originally came from. That being said, here are the rules I'm following:
I'll be making paintings for each milestone using acrylic paint. I've already completed a couple milestones (I forgot doing art for gym battles was a thing lol) so I will be making the art and posting updates on my progress tomorrow. I'll be posting the art on my Tumblr as well as in a thread in the Art Studio (link will be provided once I make the art and the thread) for anyone who wishes to see the art pieces inspired by this playthrough. Hope you'll join me on this artistic journey!
- Basic Nuzlocke Rules:
- You can only catch the first Pokemon encountered in each new area.
- If a Pokemon faints, it is considered dead and must be released or permanently stored in a "Graveyard Box."
- Artwork Rules:
- After catching a new Pokemon or experiencing a significant event in the game (such as defeating a Gym Leader or encountering a Legendary Pokemon), you must create a piece of artwork that represents that moment.
- Artwork can be in any medium, such as drawing, painting, digital art, or even sculpture.
- (Optional) Artwork should be shared on social media or a designated platform along with a description of the event it represents
