I have been a fan of the pokemon games ever since I was little.I started with Pokemon Yellow(Also my first GB game ever) moved on to Emerald, and finally played pokemon Fire Red. I remember that I used to obsess for hours over beating this one Gym Leader, or catching this one special pokemon....
When Pokemon Diamond and Pearl came out, I was actually rather excited to give it a try. As soon as I earned the money, I went ahead and purchased my own copy. I saw the starters(Which weren't bad, but not the best) and was rather partial to them, because they were so radically different than the starters of the past in their appearance. Once I got into the game, I went ahead and played it to the end. I was -OK- but I never really liked it as much as I did the old games, even though I went ahead and purchased Platinum later on.
When they came out with HG and SS I was EXTREMELY excited and couldn't wait to buy my own copy of HG(Yes, I prefer Ho-Oh over Lugia. Get over it). When I played it, it indefinately met up to my expectations and I put my heart and soul into playing the game and refining each of my pokemon to become the best they could be. I actually thought they were stepping away from the Diamond and pearl style and back towards he game's roots.
And Then......The screwed up. They came out with the two worst Abominations the pokemon world has EVER known. Black and White. I played a bit of a rom that I found because after I saw the commercials, I wasn't sure I wanted to use my money JUST yet. After going about 20 minutes into the game, I decided that it was one of the best decisions I had made. If they had taken two steps into the right direction with HG and SS, they had taken about 8 steps backwards with Black and White. The pokemon of the game were horribly designed, the Trainer icons looked rediculous, and they had removed the traditional stubby legs of the sprite icons and split them apart into the twigs we see today. Even the starters are horrible.......And they turned the usually epic fire pokemon into a COMPLETE derp.
Just my thoughts on the way pokemon is headed. If they keep up this line of design, I personally won't purchase a new edition to the franchise any more. I haven't really heard the thoughts of anyone else on the matter, so I thought I'd make this post and see who agrees with me and who disagrees. I think this'll be interesting.
