    i highly doubt is is wally. >X isn't there any other suitable character?! it used to be the girl that was the 3rd character, like red, blue are both guys, then we get yellow and green which are girls, then for the gold/silver series, we get crystal that is a girl. but nowadays, they make the starting characters 1 guy and 1 girl. >X so it will be really hard to determine.

    hey, let's give da girl's a chance, i say emerald will be a girl. >X sounds like a girl's name.

    anyone have further ideas or spoilers that they have heard of?
     
    Zapchu-San (if you don't mind me calling you that, boss) Isn't Ruby also a girl's name? It would have made sense to name the Child Sapphire, instead of Ruby. I'm totally with you on the Emerald thing :) S/he should definately be a girl.
     
    it must be a real headache at times for the writer of pokemon special, especially when nintendo announces new games every few months. as he has to work out a story line of how the character will fit in with the rest.

    I think that Emerald should be a normal person, to clearly distinguish about Ruby's and Sapphire's weird personality.
     
    o_O; i just thought of something, isn't jade also some kinda green stone? same with emerald?
     
    Jade is a Green Stone, Emerald is a Precious Gem (....also know as a Green Stone) Emeralds come in different colors, but the most popular is Green, Jade comes in White and Green.
     
    Dont really think there will be a emrald as how there isent anew avatar player in the emrald game is ther -_-;;
     
    Emerald SHould be a girl ^^;; All the single games are girls.. Yellow, Crystal, now Emerald. I just hope they dont take the haruka clone with new clothes (see serebiis update for the pic of haruka and yuuki in there emerald outfits).
     
    Blue was never in the games yet she was a character in the manga. Look, I posted in this forum! Anyway, they could just make up a whole new character to be Emerald. It is Blue, right? I know that Blue was Gary's name in the US and Green was the girl, but it was the other way around in Japan.
     
    It's likely that they will make a new character. Yellow for example.

    Btw, Blue wasn't made up out of the open blue. She's an inspired character from the things that come with manual in your Red/Blue versions...
     
    its that one picture where there are 3 trainers standing around this pokeball thing with their pokemon, there is a girl with a squirtle in that picture. ^_^; but yellow is a completely new design.

    for the GS series, the two heroes were crystal and gold. then gold's rival made up the 3rd character (?) i think. i don't think ruby/sapphire have any rivals yet, chances are, emerald will be their new rival.

    You're Right! And that's why Blue should have been a character in the games, she stood there with her Blastoise, Red stood there with Venusaur, and Green with Charizard... It all makes sense, but where's Blue?

    That's what makes Yellow so lovable by fans. ;)

    Emerald does sound like a girl, but Ruby and Green, that sounds like girl names, are guys.
    I wonder if fans are gonna fight on who's better, Emerald and Yellow. Yellow had attracted a lot of fans, so Emerald's gonna come pretty interesting.
     
    I think cristal is better....ou people confuse me with all that talking about blue...

    Of course,Fixen. Ruby likes girl's name... I like Yellow too. I think,she's nice.
    A lot of Pokemon Special fan like her.
