Yeah, I watched it. I thought it was pretty good. At first, I didn't know if I'd like it. I had found the first episode by accident and decided to see it just to get an idea of what it was like. Actually, that's how I started watching Japanese Sentai, which is basically what Power Rangers is before it gets to the States. Anyway, I ended up getting hooked. Watched the whole series, and I liked it.
I thought it was well written (at least well enough to be entertaining) and probably one of the better plots I've seen in a Tokusatsu show since Jetman. The characters were developed surprisingly well and the story is similar enough to the original Beryl arc to please old school fans. But at the same time, they put enough of a spin on it to make the plot original too. For instance:
Spoiler:
One of the main Senshi dies before the final battle, which doesn't happen in the anime. Ok. It kind of happens, but not really. You know at that point that they're just pulling your leg and everyone ends up alright at the end. But here, the character actually DIES, several episodes before the final battle! Granted, she gets revived at the end, but you're left stunned for quite a few episodes.
That was a pretty big twist, although they do foreshadow it quite a bit in the plot.
But yeah. Overall, I thought it was a great show. Not just because of that. I just used that as an example to illustrate that it does have alot of twists in its plot. In fact, there's a twist that's even bigger than that. But even I'm not vain enough to tell you what that is. You'll have to watch it to find out. But trust me, you'll be surprised.
So I read this as "Gundam Sailor Moon" and almost burst out laughing. Which was a bad thing, because I was in the middle of a lecture on Calculus (BTW, I hate Calculus).
Yeah I'm watching it now, currently at Act 36. Some of the songs in it are quite nice, especially when those girls didn't have prior singing experience.
