Project PS; The Pokemon shifter case, part 1:

Status
Not open for further replies.
I'm very, very sorry, this is the first double post I've ever done on purpose in my life, but I had to post it was necessary!! >_>

OOC: I PMed ZORRO like a long, long time ago (like last weekend) and he still hasn't posted here, so let's just move on without him. I like this RP, and I'd rather it didn't die. SO! ZORRO, if you read this, don't panic, just catch up with us and it'll be alright.

Mara
--------------

Before anyone could answer anything though, the train haulted slowly to a stop, and the attendants told everyone over a loudspeaker that they had arrived at their destination.

"Wow, that was fast!" Mara said, looking up, "Well, I guess this is where we get off." She was glad to get off anyhow. Meeting someone new was nice, but the awkwardness had been growing, and if they had been sitting there any longer, Mike would have suspected something for sure.

"Let's go Growlithe, Squirt," she said, smiling nicely.

Growlithe began to squeeze out of the room, {Finally.}

{It was getting hot in there, don't you think? A little cramped,} Squirt said while she waved herself.

Growlithe nodded. {I wasn't cramped,} he replied stubbornly.

Squirt shook her head and turned to Teioh, {He'll never admit to being uncomfortable.}

I feel like I've done something really bad... eek! Does anything happen when you double-post?!! O.O;

OOC: Not that I know. But if it would help your consience then feel free to delete your upper post. Eliminates the problem, no? ^_^

IC:

{It was cramped indeed.} Teioh concured at Squirt's first statement as they stepped out of the compartment, although he was obviously referring to their surprise guests rather than the actual space in the compartment.

He grinned a bit at Growlithe's reaction and the Squirtle's second note. "I know the type..." he replied telepathically, stretching his joints a bit and blinking. "So, where to now?" he asked, this time turning to adress the two trainers as well. "After we're properly off the train that is."

OOC: GAH! Haven't posted in this in like forever! O__O; Hm... where on Earth's Deadly Aim?? We're gonna need him...

Mara
------------

"Well, Teioh's right," Mara said, folding her arms, "Where do we go now, Seth?" She was glad to be out in the open air again, and hopefully away from anyone who would be after them.

{Let's just hope we get a lucky break and find out what's going on and what we can do about all of this stuff happening,} Squirt said, nodding. Growlithe snorted. He hoped that they just forgot about all of this and went on with the way things were supposed to be. He couldn't care less about what happened to ny of these people, really.

"Ooh!" Mara said before Seth could answer, "Look over there!" She pointed to a snack bar with ice cream and shakes.

"How about we get a snack while we talk over what to do?" she suggested, walking towards the shack.

The small stand was old, yet clean, and the girl behind the counted had a lovely smile on.

"Hello there, what can I do ya' for?" she asked them, indicating the menu. Mara walked up first and ordered a chocolate shake. Seth ordered next, then all that was left were the pokemon.

"Do you have anything for pokemon?" Mara asked, drinking her shake. The girl thought for a moment.

"We have a special pokemon ice cream designed for the specific health needs of a pokemon," she said with her smile.

Squirt shook her head, {Ick! Whenever anybody says 'specific health needs of a pokemon' you know it's going to taste like the bottom of someone's shoe.}

Growlithe raised an eyebrow. {I've always liked them,} he said, {It's just you that seems to have the problem.}

Mara looked down at Teioh and Growlithe, "Want one? It's not too much money at all."

OOC: Yeah, this goes a bit beyond his predicted 2-3 days of absence...

IC:

Teioh nodded at Squirt's first remark {I agree.} he replied They'll get what's coming to them for what they did to Biggs and Limpy... the boy-Umbreon added in his mind. {The sooner we stop them the better. Although I suppose we should lay low for a moment.}

He gave a melancholic sigh and followed in silence as Seth and Mara approached the snack bar and made their orders. Mara soon turned to offer him something however...

Teioh pondered the offer for a while, it was true what Squirt said; 'Specific for health needs' generally went hand in hand with 'Tastes like something that they've dug out from the gutter' but if the stuff actually worked it would surely be worth taking it. Besides, it had been a fairly long train trip. "Well, no harm in trying, right?" the boy-Umbreon replied at last "Sure, I'd like one."

OOC: Well, I'm doing something! And Deadly Aim's just gonna have to miss it. >_>.

Mara
------------

Mara nodded, and turned around to order the pokemon shakes. As the lady made them, Seth handed them to the Growlithe and Teioh. Mara was busy trying to find the correct amount of change in her coin purse because she was convinced that she had it somewhere.

"Ah come on, I know it's here," she said with frustration, digging through the tiny pocket-like purse.

That's when Squirt saw it. A drinking fountain a few feet away from them. Her eyes widened with relief; for she really was very thirsty, and she didn't want those awful shakes.

{Be right back,} she said casually to Growlithe and Teioh, {I'm going to get a drink!} She trotted off to the fountain, which luckily had a pokemon drinking part to it so that she could reach it. Growlithe made a grunt that said 'Okay', and continued to be emersed in his shake.

Squirt licked her blue lips and then bent down to drink off of the clear water, when suddenly something grabbed her. She tried to yell, but something had engulfed her. She was in some sort of sack-like cloth.

{What the?! HELP!} she yelled, but it didn't seem to be able to penatrate the bag. Before anyone could notice, Squirt was gone from the drinking fountain; nowhere to be seen.

Growlithe was just finishing his shake; he was quite a fast eater.

Mara brought out a coin, "Ha! I knew I had the correct change! There you go...." The girl looked a bit relieved that finally these customers would be gone. There were a lot of people waiting in line, and Mara had certainly not helped her situation.

Mara turned around with her shake. "Hey," she said, her smile fading a bit, "Where's Squirt?"

OOC: Alas, poor DA, I knew thee well...

IC:

{Hmm...it's not half-bad actually...} Teioh commented as he made his way through his ice cream, his pace not much slower than Growlithe's. The boy-umbreon maintained a lazy vigil over Squirt as she announced that she was going to drink, but didn't really bother to watch over the water pok?mon that closely. After all, what could possibly happen during such a short trip?

Well...that question became answered far too fast for Teioh's liking as his danger sense suddenly jabbed him at full alert. Looking around Teioh realized, just as Mara pointed it out, that there was a definite shortage of Squirt in the area.

{Oh no...} Teioh said quietly, sniffing the air for a while and following Squirt's scent to the fountain, where it abruptly ended. {Squirt!} he called out frantically, recieving no reply, he stretched any psychic powers he still possessed to their full potential and recieved nothing. "Mara!" he called out telepathically, his mindvoice filled with worry "Squirt's nowhere to be seen! Someone has abducted her!"

OOC: Great... what's Seth gonna do? Take a vow of silence, temporarily become a mime?? XD Maybe we should just keep him going as a NPC for now or something. Whatever, it's still fun to write. ^_^ Maybe you can poke Arty until he comes back? Hm... no, maybe not.

Mara
------------

"Squirt?!" Mara called frantically, "SQUIRT!"

Growlithe seemed a bit frozen. He looked absolutely terrified, as if he had just done something horrifying. He only mumbled to himself, {I shouldn't have let her... leave... I should have watched....}

Seth (yeah, yeah, I'm gonna make someone else's character talk, but the guy can't just stand there doing nothing!) stepped forward, his mind seemed to be trying to grasp onto what to do next. "Well he can't have gone far with her!" he said, staring around, "Growlithe and Teioh, you guys need to help us out here!"

Mara scanned the area with her eyes, she saw everything it in the world around her except for any clue to where her little Squirtle would be.

Growlithe seemed to snap out of his trance, {Okay, I'm on it...,} he said, sniffing around the water fountain.

{Squirt was here,} he said hurriedly, looking at Teioh while he said things considering he was the only one that could understand him. {There's another scent here too... many humans drinking, but those are old... there's someone else, an adult woman... her scent leads into the bushes.} His eyes narrowed, {No adult human skulks in bushes in the broad daylight. She must have taken Squirt.}

Mara noticed that Growlithe had gotten the scent, and dashed forward, "Well come on, we have to find her!"

Seth called out as he too bounded forward, "Wait Mara, wait for us all to be together, we don't want you to get kidnapped too!"

~~~~
{Let me go! Where am I?!} Squirt yelled, though she knew it was useless. All she heard were muffled footsteps and mumbles. It was very dark in the sack, and having little to do made Squirt's mind wander.
Why was it that these people even wanted her? What was she to them?
Unfortunately, she was about to find out....
The sack turned upside-down, and Squirt fell out onto a laboratory table with a thud. She sat up quickly, staring into the faces of a small group of humans that stood in the shadowed light and wore long, white laboratory coats. She trembled a bit, but stared defiantly at them.
{What're you gong to do with me?!} she spat at them, trying her hardest to conceal her growing fears.
Strangely enough, though she had never remembered being here, things felt oddly familiar.
"Ah yes, you were always quite defiant, weren't you Jennifer?" came a male voice from the scientist directly in front of her. He had a smirk on his shadowed face.
Squirt frowned a bit, {Jennifer? Who on Earth are you talking about? My name's--}
But the scientist cut her off, ignoring whatever she had been saying to him, "Silence! You're here because you need to be here. I wouldn't have cared a bit if you had just gone and died; but unfortunately, my wife seems to miss having a child to push around since the accident she had...." He didn't seem sad about saying 'accident', it was more embarrassment.
Squirt hadn't a clue what was going on, but she had a small inkling growing inside of her, and the thought was not helping her fears die down.
But before she had anymore time to think, she felt a hand grab down on her arm, and a piercing pain on her shoulder. The kind of pain that meant a needle had gone into your skin. Squirt yelled again, but there was no one around besides the scientists.
She felt faint suddenly, and though she tried her hardest to stay awake, the world around her began to fade to black... she heard the male voice again.
"Take her to her cell and make sure a guard checks up on her every hour on the hour. Tomorrow we'll take her to the base," he said in the same toneless voice.
Only an hour had gone by when Squirt awoke in her cell. Her body ached, and she was very thirsty, but she was alive at least. The guard had just left from checking her, and the thud of the door must have woken her up. She rubbed her head, and noticed that it was actually quite furry feeling.
Furry? No, she meant hairy.
Hairy?!
She felt it again and then looked at the rest of herself. She was... not herself anymore!
"Ahh! What the--?" she stammered, getting up and falling back down from being too weak, "How am I--? Why did they--?" She seemed unable to put what she wanted to express into words. The short, light blue hair, the pale peachy skin, the long legs....
Squirt was no longer a Squirtle. She was her real self; a human.
OOC: Whoo! Long post! I figured doing this from the beginning, 'tis why I made Squirt's background a secret (though it might have been a bit obvious). Hey, it takes a good deal of my brainpower to come up with this stuff. Isn't that sad? XP
OOC: Hah! She was a shifter! Knew it all along! *Does a little happy dance* Oh, and attempting to poke Arty into RPing is about as easy as attempting to get him to punctuate; not a chance...Oh, and maybe Squirt could somehow end up in contact with Biggs the Slowbro (Come on, everybody loves Biggs, right?^^)? I don't know what the big lug could do for her, but it would be kind of neat. Or maybe Limpy could still be alive? I never specified that he was dead. Just exerting my brainpower here... ^^
IC:
{So should I...} Teioh replied at Growlithe's first statement, a wave of guilt running through him as he attempted to follow the scent after the fire pok?mon's example. Oh...if only I was an Espeon... he thought for himself in frustration I could track Squirt and whoever took her easily...when I get my hands...well, paws, on whoever is responsible they will regret being born. The boy-Umbreon returned to listening intently to Growlithe as he caught the scent and explained his suspicions.
"Alright..." Teioh communicated to Mara and Seth "We're looking for an adult woman who went into those bushes, let's get a move on!" He picked up the pace himself, although he remained within close proximity of Mara, determined not to let as much as one more of his friends get captured by his enemies.
OOC: Oh good. I was hoping it was fairly obvious. ^-^ Why not have her meet up with Biggs? At least then we'd have more characters... >_>
Mara (and Squirt)
-------------
"Oh I just can't believe this is happening!" Mara said frantically as they continued to search around. Seth even had his Ekans out helping them to search for the woman. Ekans had a good sense of smell for humans, and it could slither into spots that both Teioh and Growlithe just couldn't get in.
"I'll never forgive myself if anything happens to her...," Mara said in a wavering voice, she was trying not to cry; the others were so brave, and she didn't want to look so childish, "Me... digging around for change for a shake and she was...."
Seth looked at her sympathedically, "We'll find her, I'm sure they must still be here, from the looks of where we're headed they went to the warehouse district."
Mara didn't even want to think of what they could do to her in some old warehouse.
That's when Growlithe stopped and shook his head, {That woman was tricky; I've lost the scent.}
~~~~

Squirt was really at a loss of what to think. Her mind had always been blank about her past before she met Growlithe and Mara... but not in her wildest dreams did she think that anything like this was the truth.

"This is weird...," was all she could muster saying. And who was that man? Did what he say meant that he was her father? This was starting to end up like a bad soap opera. A door creaked open and Squirt realized that the guard had come back.

He looked over to her and noticed that she was awake.

"Oy! You're awake, are you?" he sneered, looking her over, "Well, unfortunately I've been told to give you these when you wake up." He threw some clothes onto the bars of the cell, and Squirt blinked at the man.

"But I don't know how to put them on," she said in a toneless voice, still shocked about what was happening.

"Just do it," the guard said, and at that moment, the door flung open again, and another guard walked in.

He was burly and was carrying a pokemon of some kind. Squatty and dazed, it appeared to be a Slowbro. The guards talked about how it too would be transferred in the morning and then threw it into the cell across from Squirt, chuckling at her as they left. The door closed with another thud, and Squirt picked up her clothes.

"This is going to feel weird... wearing clothes...," she said, looking them over. She looked across the room to the Slowbro and waved a bit.

"H-Hi! What's your name? I'm Squ- well, wait... I guess I'm not. What did he say my name was? Jennifer?" she looked down at the ground for a moment, thinking to herself, "No! I won't take that name he gave me."

She looked back to the Slowbro, "My name's Squirt! What's yours?"

The Slowbro's glazed-over eyes met with hers, but they didn't seem too attentatvie. However, the pokemon did answer her.

"Name's Biggs. They keep people in cages now too?" he answered back using psychic powers. His eyes glowing bright blue.

"N-no... just me I guess. I used to be a pokemon. Well, actually, I used to be a human and then a pokemon and now I'm a human again. Though all I remember is being a pokemon," she said back to Biggs.

Biggs tried to look sorry for her, but his Slowbro face would only slightly frown. His eyes began to glow again. "Sorry if I can't talk much... get sleepy if I use psychic for too long. Gotten much better though since Limpy and Teioh."

Squirt's head popped out from the shirt she was putting on backwards. "What?! You know Teioh?" she said, looking surprised yet happy. She was really scared, and to have someone that knew someone she knew was somewhat of a comfort.

Biggs looked as if he were attempting a look of surprise, "What? You know Teioh?"

OOC: Hope you don't mind that I made Biggs talk a bit. ^-^ If you want, you can control him from now on. *shrug*

OOC: Not a problem. It makes sense that he would have improved his psychic powers over time. Although the Slowbro aspect will always be with him and make him a bit...erm, slow. Oh, and maybe we could put Limpy in too.

IC:

"It's not your fault." Teioh stated firmly at Mara's comment although he continued following Growlithe, until their trail ran cold that is.

{Let me try...} Teioh said, walking over to the spot where the trail of scent had ended and sniffing the air, perking up his ears to catch up any suspect sounds. The scent was indeed completely gone, but there seemed to be something else; a smell that seemed completely out of place in a warehouse district...after a while, the realization struck him;

{Sweet Scent!} Teioh exclaimed, {I bet she brought along a grass pok?mon of some kind to cover her tracks. Probably waited this far on purpose since it's easier to get lost around here. The smell is all over this area.} he took another deep wiff, searching for a direction {And I think...} the boy-umbreon said slowly, turning and pointing his head towards the direction where the smell was freshest {I think it's coming from over there...}

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, Biggs had recieved more or less of a breakdown of Squirt's end of the story, listening as intently as he could while the shellder on his tail stared indiferently at the girl.

"I see..."
he replied, already feeling a slight strain from his prolonged use of mindspeak "Don't know what to do about it though...too many guards here...too many...and I'm-I'm-getting a bit drowsssss..." the Slowbro yawned widely and then drifted of to sleep, the Shellder on his tail continuing to stare unblinkingly at Squirt.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, somewhere on the outskirts of Biffin Town, a very small, grey-furred Rattata limped his way towards civlization, cursing slowly under his breath. {Had to be a bloody hero I did. 'Run' I said...'Just Run'. Lucky that they tossed my 'corpse' here and not into the grinder though...} the old one mused, continuing to limp without a particular destination, the many bitemarks on his body causing him to wince at every step.

OOC: Hope you're okay with the Sweet Scent part Light Azumarill. ^^ Oh, and I don't mind you controlling Biggs on occassion, he's a kind of sidekick-type character after all, but I'll do so as well. Oh, and he has to sleep a lot because of his Slowbro aspect. ^^

OOC: No, not at all, I left it at that so that you could interpret it any way you liked. Yay, Limpy! You'll have to do most of the writing for him though; I don't think I'd do it right, and I'd hate to mess up his character because he's so neat (O.O neat? Why do I still use that word...?). Poor sleepy Biggs... I know how he feels... -_-.

Mara (and Squirt!)
------------------

{Sweet Scent!} grumbled Growlithe, {How dare she think she can trick me like that? Did she think I would just give up after a while?} He was angry that there was another obstacle in his way, but he shook it off quickly and began to focus instead on smelling the scent.

Mara calmed a bit because of them getting closer to finding Squirt, but she wondered to herself how they were going to pull this one off. What were they going to do, just walk in and steal Squirt back? What if they got ahold of one of them and... and killed them? Mara shook her head in silent worry, trying not to think of the worst case scenario.

They conitnued to walk for quite some time, all the while Teioh and Growlithe trying their hardest to sniff for any signs to point them in the right direction. The Sweet Scent was strong, and it was starting to get almost overpowering to Growlithe, who shook his head once in a while to try and clear his senses.

That's when he smelled the faintest bit of something else.

{What's tha--?} he stopped though, {Oh, it's only an old, injured Ratatta.} He continued on his way. {Besides, he was probably far from here, it was only a faint scent of blood.}

~~~~
As Biggs continued to snore loudly, Squirt sat alone thinking to herself.
She tried hard to remember anything about before she washed up on the shore and was found by Mara, but she couldn't. She didn't know if she wanted to anyway. At least she was clothed now. As she thought of this, she remembered a time when it was only about a day after Mara and Growlithe found her. She had felt very strange and stayed in her shell a lot back then, feeling embarrassed everytime she would come out.
Was that because she really had been used to wearing clothes?
She sighed, "Oh I wish I could see myself in a mirror or something. I don't even know if I'm pretty or not."
Just then the door opened again. Three hours since she had been awake had gone by. How much longer until morning, she wondered.
The guard stepped in followed by the man that had spoken to Squirt before she had gotten the syringe stabbed in her.
"Hello there Jennifer," he said coldly.
"Hey, my name's not Jennifer or whatever," she said, trying to muster some courage.
"No need to get fiesty, though you were always good at that. You should know, right Roberts?" he replied, smiling at the guard. The burly guard looked over to Squirt and then smiled too.
Squirt raised an eyebrow. What the heck?
"Don't remember? You and Roberts used to date. Well, you didn't like him much, but your mother thought he had good potential. I didn't care," he sneered, folding his arms.
Squirt couldn't help herself, in fact, it really did look quite funny, "Haa! I dated him? No wonder I didn't like him; he's like a boulder with a head! Haa haa!"
Roberts didn't look too pleased about that comment, but for some reason Squirt wasn't feeling threatened. Insulting him just seemed to be the right thing to do.
She stopped her chuckling to see her father and Roberts turn around and leave. As they closed the door, she heard Roberts say to her father, "Looks like she's still the same annoying little gnat."
And her father replied, "I don't care."
The Warehouse District was dark and eerie. Shadows hung in peculiar places, and darks figures seemed to lurk around every corner. Even at night, it was never entirely black; green security lights glared down from every building, giving it an outlandish atmosphere.
The girl walking through the narrow allies was just as mysterious as the district; she was dressed all in black. Tight black jeans, a black woollen poncho, and a black bandanna was wrapped around her head. Her dark brown hair feel to around her elbows, and at first glance she appeared to be wearing a shimmering, shaking cape. At her feet, trotted a large houndoom. It had a wiry, wily sort of look about it - like it had seen one too many harsh winters, and lost too much weight to ever regain.
She moved through the streets while every one slept. Like the cats that screamed and spat all night. she seemed to prowl from warehouse to warehouse, stopping at every door. She seemed to fumble with several sets of keys while her pokemon watched. However, none seemed to fit, and she moved on.
OOC: Question, is the Houndoom a part of Charon's team? Because it's not listed on the sign-up sheet...
IC:
{Old, bleeding Rattata?} Teioh echoed quietly at Growlithe's comment {Nah...it couldn't be...} he shook his head, discarding the thoughts and focusing his mind onto the trail once more.
Suddenly Teioh froze, his senses tingling to indicate the presence of another person and a pok?mon in the area. The Boy-Umbreon peeled his eyes, finally spotting a female dressed in black, accompanied by a shifty-looking Houndoom, who was apparently fiddling with the nearby warehouse doors. There was no grass pok?mon in sight of course, but she would no doubt have recalled it to throw them of the trail. And this was simply too suspicious.
"Over there..." Teioh communicated to the others, pointing out the foreign trainer and her pok?mon, his rings glowing fiercely as he focused a Mean Look on the duo to prevent escape. "That could be our kidnapper..."
{Changed her party. It's now:
Houndoom ♂ > Rave
Nidorino ♂
Victreebell ♂
Sorry about that, I forgot to mention it earlier.}
The girl was onto the fourth warehouse now - and was apparently getting fed-up.
These bloody buildings all look the same!
She swore under her breath, causing the Houndoom to look up and give her a disapproving glare.
She shot a glance around the district. There were still six, no, seven warehouses to check... and eighteen keys... This was harder that she had expected. The job description had been 'Break in, Steal, Get out' - but she was still struggling with the first instruction. How unusual!
The houndoom yawned, and adjusted himself so he was shielding her from view some more. Guarding was so boring... he couldn't wait to get to the fighting part.
OOC: Hmm...so she didn't notice the Mean Look that was sneakily placed upon her? Well, works for me. XD
IC:
Without bothering to wait for a reply, Teioh melded with the shadows surrounding him and snuck up on the duo that still seemed to be too preoccupied with something else to bother with them. The boy-Umbreon scrutinized their potential enemy in search of any place where she might have put Squirt, but couldn't find anything, especially with that wiry looking Houndoom in the way. To top it all, the Sweet Scent seemed to have dulled Teioh''s nose and he was, at the moment, incapable of telling one scent from the other. He snuck a bit closer, leaving the safety of the deepest shadows but still remaining out of view, hoping that the strong smell pentrating the area would dull the Houndoom's senses as well.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile on the very outskirts of Biffin Town, the grey-furred Rattata lay down on the ground, panting and feeling unable to take another step. He stared reproachfully at the sky, his breath coming of as slightly wheezing "So this is freedom..." he muttered sourly "It's overrated." The Rattata stared up towards the sky, his vision slowly becoming a blur and his whole body beginning to feel incredibly light, as if drifting of the ground.
Had anyone else been there to witness the scene, they would surely have mistaken it as being nothing more than another case of a local Murkrow picking up a meal for itself and carrying it towards its nest in the Warehouse district.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the LG facility, the Shellder on Biggs' tail seemed to be following the conversation between Squirt and Roberts even though its owner was sound asleep. At the girl's last comment the Slowbro suddenly gave a hearty laugh, seemingly in his sleep, {Hah!} Biggs suddenly boomed, his eyes still shut {That's too true! You'd make a fine Graveler you would!} the male then returned to his previous state of snoring with an ever so slight smile etched on his face, leaving Roberts with the distinct impression that he had been insulted even though he hadn't understood a word of the pok?talk.
The girl groaned. Yet another door, yet another set of keys that hadn't worked.
Her urge to stomp and shout rising, she turned to leave - and found she couldn't. She was rooted to the spot. Her legs had frozen from the knee downwards - and refused to work.
She looked to her houndoom desperately. "Rave, you smell anything?" she asked.
Rave the houndoom lifted his head, sniffing tenatively. He glanced back to his trainer, his wide eyed expression telling all. He was drawing up blanks. For some reason his trainer was stuck, and he had no idea why.
Coran thought for a moment. And then for another moment. And then one moment more. A thought struck her. "Get ready to use flamethrower," she whispered, "if you hear any sudden movements... don't hesitate to attack."
After all... she hadn't been stuck five minutes ago. Someone had to be nearby, either springing some sort of trap or using a pokemon to trap her. Now she was stuck, they'd probably approach.
Dang, forgot about that... Teioh cursed in his mind, drawing backwards as the Houndoom began sniffing the air. Luckily, his scent had been just as masked that of their prey (He had no idea why he thought of them as such, but he did) and the Houndoom couldn't smell any more than the Umbreon did. After a pause, the girl whispered something to her pok?mon. Although Teioh couldn't quite tell what it was but judging by the alert way in which the Houndoom began to act it was fairly obvious that being seen wasn't prudent at the moment. The dark pok?mon seemed to be perking its ears now, attempting to discern him by sound rather than smell or sight, and the boy-Umbreon froze to keep even the faintest of sound from leaving him.
"Come on guys..." he sent out to his friends, "I might need a hand over here..." he then resumed sizing up his opponent in case things would get ugly. Teioh actually felt fairly strong in this form, and the naturally high endurance that came with being an Umbreon would certainly help him in the event of a battle. But Houndooms were well-known for being strong...
Mara
-------------
"Teioh wait!" hissed Mara as the Umbreon's body slinked away into the shadows. Mara and Seth were a bit worried that they would be discovered. Mara more than Seth. She hadn't been in many situations that required her to rescue a friend from an evil organization.
{Fool, I'll follow him,} sighed Growlithe, annoyed partially because Teioh had bounded off, and partially because he wanted to be the one to rescue Squirt. After all, they had been friends longer. Who did he think he was? His eyes squinted in concentration as he followed the Umbreon.
There was a young woman and her Houndoom seemingly standing guard. Growlithe saw Teioh use a Mean Look, and then noticed that the Houndoom looked ready to take on whoever was nearby. It assumed an attack-ready pose.
Growlithe looked over to Teioh and decided that he'd better do something or they'd never get anywhere. Perhaps if he could distract the attention of the Houndoom, Teioh could take on the human girl.
He nodded, and then slinked off to another spot away from Teioh so that it would look as if they came from different locations.
He sprang out at the Houndoom with a growl. {Looking for me!} he snarled, running in front of the large, black pokemon. Hopefully, this would work.
"Biggs, I don't know if I want to remember my past, "Squirt said with a sigh, "What if I was some mean person or something?"
{I don't think that's true. You're not mean now, are ya'?} Biggs said lazily, yawning.
Squirt looked down at her human hands. "No... and I don't want to be either. That would be too weird. I also know I don't want to see my mother," she said, frowning.
{Why's that?} asked Biggs, the shellder on his tail looking up at the barred window of the cell.
"I don't know why. I just have this feeling of anger and dread when I think of her wanting to see me. I wish...," her eyes got watery, but her expression stayed defiant, "I wish Growlithe and Teioh and Mara were here."
Alright Teioh... the boy-Umbreon said in his mind, concentrating on the girl in front of him and mentally preparing to strike as Growlithe lunged forward to distract the Houndoom Let's make this one, clean, sweep. Under the cover of Growlithe's noise, he snuck through the shadows until he stood right opposite to his target. Well... Teioh thought This is it...
Suddenly, the shifter lunged into clear view with terrifying speed, his rings glowing brightly to add to his intimidation power as he charged at the trainer, bluntly knocking her to the ground and growling treatheningly to keep her from sending assistance to the Houndoom. Surely, Growlithe could deal with this foe without assistance.
The houndoom reacted in an instant; tail swinging, he vanished, only to reappear pratically on top of the growlithe. Instintively, he lunged forward, teeth ready to perform Crunch -
"Ouch!" the girl cried out. Her body seemed to crumple; she fell to her knees. The houndoom stopped, mid-leap, and came crashing to a halt beside his growlithe foe. His bright red eyes flashed with anger, as his gaze fell on the umbreon - how dare they attack my Coran?
He bowed his head, teeth bared.
Coran stared up at the Umbreon warily. Rave could handle himself - his Faint Attack had shrown her that - but now she was being threatened, she guessed things would get pretty dirty. "Get back!" she muttered, meeting it's intense amber gaze. Don't start a fight, she begged silently.
