Has their ever been at time when you played the pokemon games or saw the names of the pokemon somewhere and you pronouced it someway, then later you see the show and its pronounced someway else? has happened to me!

    Torchic- TOR-kik
    Groudon- GREW-din
    Kyogre- KIE-ogre
Suicune - SOO-kin Ah. Suicune, the one that had lots of ways to pronounce by people back in the G/S/C days
    Unoun- UN-now-n...
Lt. Surge- El-Tee Surge. What? I was 6 then! i didn't know how to say it XD

thats all i can think of right now..
How I pronouced torchic and groudon should have been the official ways LoL!

    *Edit

Oh yeah... I forgot about Chimecho! I prnouced it Ki-me-ko cause it'd be more unique if it wasn't pronouced the normal ch way!

I've done that a few times. Suicune is a weird one if you're not used to Japanese, I believe it's pronounced Soo-e-cune. Houndour is another one, I used to say Houn-door, but it's actually Hound-our.

I use to pronunce Suicune like that also Toothache but know I still don't think I pronounce it right?
    Swee-kun

    :t094:~*!*~Queen Boo~*!*~

I never found Suicune hard to pronounce. The "ui" makes the sound "wee," and "cune" is obviously "coon." It's not a matter of knowing Japanese, it's a matter of knowing that the letter I can have a long sound. Torchic's "chic," which is from "chick," should also be pronounced "chick." Unown is from "unknown," so it should be pronounced the same way.

The only two I've ever mis-pronouced are Groudon and Kyogre.... that corrected now... but I use to think that Kyogre was pronouced like a Japanese word.
So I called it 'Kyou-grey', then I watched the anime and heard how it was really said.... it kinda made me sad, because I dont like the real way that its pronouced.
And Groudon... I use to think it was Groundon for a few weeks back in 2003.

This has happened to me before. :O I always think the name is pronounced one way, then I hear it on the show or on a commercial and they say it way differently than I ever had. o__O Here's a couple that I could think of off the top of my head:

My pronunciation: Ch-eye-mm-choe (yeah I know that one's a bit messed up XD)
    Actual pronunciation: Chih-me-choe

    My pronunciation: Gly-gahr
    Actual pronunciation: Gly-grr

Those are the only two I can think of ATM. @.@

    Ooooh gosh I remember how me and my siblings would mispronunciate many names...XD The one that still stands out for me is Groundon though....We used to say "Ground AWN" and then I thought "Maybe I'm saying it wrong..I know! I'll try Grow-dun"...and even now, I haven't seen a single anime episode with Groundon in it....and so my pronouciation is still off I'mpretty sure XD I remember watching a clip with Groundon's pronunciationin it, but I forgot it =_=;;
Hmm what else..Oooh yeah I used to pronounce Usokki's name as "Ooo SOO keeeyy" XD I was like...little...and...I liked that name..XD Me and my brother would always kid around whenever we encountered that Sudowoodo..XD Ahh fun times.
Oh yeah, and then Suicune...We used to say "Soo seen", kinda like Eusine....And so I was drop dead confused when I watched the anime and THEN played Crystal 'cause I think Soo seen would've matched Eusine's personality better since he's after Suicune and all.
    Hmm what else...
    Sentret- Sen-treet
    Hoppip- Hop-eep
    Grovyle-Groove-el
    Yanma-Yan-ma (not yawn-ma)
    Illumise-Illu-mees
Milotic-Meelowtick (not the way the anime pronounces it)

Others I can't remember as well...

    I'm horrible with pronounciations.

    Kyogre - Kee-OH-gur (I still say that)
    Grovyle - like "grovel"
    Zubat - Zuh-bat (I was seven)
    Gligar - GLIH-gur
    Linoone - LIN-oone

There are bound to be many, many more, but I can't think of them right now.

Also, when I was like seven and first playing through Red version, I pronounced Erika like "eureka" and - probably my worst one - Giovanni like "guy-OH-vun-ee". The name "Eusine" really confused me as well. I called him "Es-ween" until I saw an episode with him in it.

I use to call 'Pokemon' Pok-uh-mon. but now I call it Po-kay-mon. ^-^

aaand... as for the pokemon names....

    A couple of friends and I use to think that Charizard was 'Charlizard'. ^-^;
and I use to call Zapdos 'Zapados'. and 'Vaporeon' was 'Vaploreon'. oO; ....I dunno.

    ...it was weird.

    Linoone - LIN-oone

I STILL say it that way cause I always forget that its wrong.

    I had:

    Lugia as Loo-jee-ah
    Zapdos as Zap-dos
    Milotic as Mill-oh-tick

Some of my friends at school still say Grew-don. That makes me laugh XD

I used to be the odd ball who called Chimecho "CHIME-choh." However, I do have an explanation for that: there's only one E in the name.

Also, I always insist on calling Rattata "rah-TAT-tah," even now. The actual pronunciation, according to "Electric Shock Showdown": "RAT-tat-tah."

Third, Trapinch. I used to pronounce it "TRAP-inch." Actual pronunciation: "trah-PINCH."

Fourth, I used to pronounce Milotic as "mill-OH-tic." Actual pronunciation: "my-LOH-tic."

And yes, I'm a culprit of the "LOO-gee-ah" pronunciation for Lugia.

Lastly, Kirlia. When I first saw that name, I used to pronounce it "kir-ee-LEE-ah," despite the fact that there's no I between the R and L.
