So, I've been in my apartment about a month now and bought some PS3 games today and decided to hook it up for the first time since moving in. Going to note that I didn't get a new tv, cables, or anything, however my PS3 won't show up on screen. The console itself turns on, but nothing on the screen other than a bright blue with "no signal!" I never had this issue when I played the PS3 on the exact same tv at home prior to moving. It's not showing up on either HDMI channels, even though the HD output and input are plugged in properly. Anyone know what could be the problem? My Wii U plays just fine on the tv so I don't know what's up, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the console itself and it's just a matter of the tv not picking it up.

I finally got Jak HD and I wanna play it, y'all. :(

When you say you tried both HDMI channels, did you try plugging the cable into each of them and seeing if it showed up on either on your TV?

It could also be some sort of config problem with either the PS3 or the TV, but I doubt it since you had it working on the same TV before. Also, check the HDMI cable for any splits or anything like that.

Hope you can sort this :)

Yes, I tried plugging the cable into both ports to see if either would work and had no success with either of them. The cable itself has no splits or anything. Practically pristine.

You likely have to go into the settings and configure the Video for HDMI again.

It's difficult to do without video, but I imagine that'll fix the issue, as something similar has happened to me.

Bleh. It's almost 11 right now, so I guess that's something I'll try tomorrow and see if that works. If that is the case, I just find it weird that I had no issues with it when I played on the same tv before and then no issues when using the Wii U, but the PS3 wants to be difficult.

@Don, whoops, missed your post. Anyway, I didn't get RCA cables with mine. I bought it from my cousin and it only had the HDMI cable, which I've played on three different tvs with no issues. I don't have other HDMI cables I could try...unless the Wii U's would work with it, lol. That's the only other one I have.

With your PS3 turned off, try holding down the PS3 power button until it beeps (Usually should be a few seconds), then let it boot. That's a quick way to make it auto-detect your video cables. Had this problem in the past myself.

If the Wii U's is HDMI at both ends, it should work as a stand-in to see if the HDMI cable is bad.

I think Macho and/or Ooka have got your solution, though. Last gen systems can be a bit of a pain to switch the video outputs. Happened to me with both my Xbox 360 and PS3 when I got a new TV in November; I had to manually switch the Xbox's output from Component over to HDMI before I could use HDMI, and for the PS3, I think all I needed to do was what Ooka says to do.

I tried holding down the button to see if it'd find the settings, but that didn't happen. So then I tried looking up videos on how to manually go through and configure video back to HDMI, but I'm not having any luck finding any. I'm just finding things like hooking up the HDMI cables/PS3 in general and going from HDMI to SV. And I'm finding videos on hold down the power button, which already didn't work for me. Sigh.

Edit: After playing around with it a bit, I found out I can use PS2 RCA cables to get things to come up so I can go into settings and fix things, but from there, I have no idea what I'm doing anymore. lol I would settle for the RCA cables, but I mean, if I wanted to play Jak in non-HD, I'd be playing it on the PS2 in the first place...u feel me

Edit again: Found where I need to go to manually change things. I'm doing the thing where you hit that you want to change it to HDMI and it shows you it for 30 seconds, but it's still not picking up the signal when I change to the HDMI channel during the 30 seconds.
