Do you go to the gym/ work out and do you believe gyms are good things?

If so what do you do at the gym, such as do you focus on certain muscle groups or do you have a certain goal weight or a goal for your body for example a weight you want to be able to bench press.
What is your favourite work out/ exercise to do at the gym.
Do you go to an actually gym or do you have your own personal equipment at home that you use?

If not why do you not go to the gym/ work out? What is stopping you from working out? Also what is your opinion on working out?

Ughhhhhh I hate the gym. I mean I love all the equipment and if I had my own private gym I would probably live in it, but I hate the gym atmosphere. I don't want to be surrounded by people when I work out. I just can't work out to my potential if everyone is looking at me or if I'm in a room with strangers. Which is why I prefer to go with someone I know to the gym, but when I do that I end up fooling around and adding as much weight as I can to the weight machines and pulling them as hard as I can to see if I can do it instead of actually working out lololol.

I like working out though when it comes to cardio workouts. For example I love to go jogging and I go everyday, but I absolutely can't stand toning. It's just so boring to do and I'll usually stick to them for a month and then get bored and stop. Which is terrible because I really need to just get over it and do it. :((((((((

I don't go to the gym, not anymore at least. I went at a school gym because I played a few sports, but now I just don't feel like playing them. Anyway, I didn't focus on a particular muscle group. It was mainly about building muscle overall, so there wasn't anything specific in mind.

So now I don't go to a gym. I honestly don't feel the need right now, since I work out at home. I don't have much equipment, but it's enough to satisfy my needs. And I run at least twice a week.

I really need to start going back to the gym. I have a few pieces of workout equipment at my house such as a elliptical machine, some weights, an ab roller, and a aerobic stepper that I use frequently, but I don't feel like that's enough.
I also try to go walking/jogging regularly.

I gooooooooo to the gym. :3

There are a few things I do when I'm at the gym. One of them is Zumba classes and I ADORE that class. :D But first, I warm up with 30 min of striding, and after that, Zumba class starts and I work out/dance for a solid hour. then after than I do either 30 min of treadmill, 30 min of cycling, or 30 min of weightlifting.

I'm doing this to beat my new years's resolution. That is all.

I don't go to the gym and I haven't really ever been in one (sometimes in P.E we go to the school's gym but I don't really count that). I prefer to work out alone than to be surrounded by other people, since I get the feeling that everyone is constantly staring at me and it really puts me off from working out.

At home we have some exercise equipment: a few weights, an exercise ball, a cycling machine and a punch bag. I would really like to get a treadmill sometime though because I quite like jogging/running but I'm too self-conscious to go outside and do it in public.

I'm afraid to say I don't work out all that much but that's partly because I'm still recovering from my spinal operation, so I can't do anything too 'intense'. I go swimming once a week for an hour but that's about it. I enjoy working out but yeah, I can't really do much just now.

Do I go to the gym? Goodness no. I get incredibly shy when I have to do physical activity in front of other people. I think that's something that I need to get over, and I don't really understand why. The only activities that I have no problem doing in front of other people are soccer, volleyball and tennis (and running, I guess). Like a lot of other people, when I work out, I prefer to do it alone rather than being around too many people. I always feel like someone's looking at me and judging me, and even though I don't regularly worry about things like that, it does bother me at the gym.

It's a huge reason why when I was in high school, I would do the bare minimum. Thankfully my gym teachers understood I had a problem performing physically in front of other people, but I guess I made up for it in the tennis court (since I don't recall ever playing soccer in gym class before).

Yeah I could never do the gym. I don't like exercising with people, exercise is a miserable experience for me in general and I don't want anyone to be there to make me feel like I have to push myself harder to keep up with other people, not look bad, etc. I like the IDEA of the gym but I don't like the execution of it, which isn't the gym's fault but keeps me from going there. :(

I dont really work out, but know excercise is important, so I walk around my neighborhood , bike or swim when my pool is open.

I haven't been to a gym in ages. I'd have to pay for a membership now, and nope. I'd rather just walk around for free than have to pay to do stuff I'm not terribly interested in. Walking is my favorite exorcise :)

Last time I was in a gym I think I just stayed on a bike or a treadmill. It's been so long I've forgotten. I'm too weak for weightlifting and I'm bad at sports.

I do a few pushups/situps every morning, and walk 20-30 minutes a day. Occasionally, if I'm feeling really energetic, I might lift weights... but not very often.

I do a hundred push ups on my knuckles against the wooden floorboards at home. It hurts but when I remember how much my life sucks, the hatred gives me the power to burn through the pain. One time, my anger was nearing peak levels and I managed to do 130. To compliment the push ups I also do a hundred crunches.

I ride my bike for around an hour on most days for a cardiovascular workout. Finally I take Karate lessons twice a week, which also last an hour. The push ups develop the strength in my arms, the cycling works on my legs, the crunches reinforce my core power and the martial arts training ties it all together. That is the idea anyway.

My workouts do not require me to use a gymnasium or any equipment, except for a bike. I am not a body builder (I do not have bulging muscles but rather, high density ones) and I can ride my bike for cardio workouts, so I do not really need a gym. I used to enjoy the gym classes I did in secondary school physical education though. In those I would often do "spinning" which is riding a stationary bike, or run on the treadmill. Basically focus on cardiovascular workouts rather than building muscles. I think gyms can be a great place for people to work out and if I wanted to go there to workout, I would. I never had any problem with the atmosphere at the school gym so I do not think that would be a problem now.

Remember kids, exercise is important. The means of how you get that exercise, not so much.

I heart the gym and I try and go about three times a week. <3 It's seriously a great stress reliever. Most of the time I work out alone, but sometimes I work out with my family and either way I'm good. I've been working out for so long that I've tuned out the people around me, being less self-conscious about my workouts in public and more focused on, well, my workouts. At first I was shy, but now I don't even notice others around me half the time, haha.

I don't go to the gym... mostly because I don't want to pay for a membership. And I don't care how clean everything is, the thought of sharing the equipment is just icky to me.

At home I do some basic yoga, strength training, and aerobics a couple of time a week. Nothing major. I'm not hoping to get ripped, just be somewhat active since I live a really stationary lifestyle.

I don't go to the gym seeing as how I work out at home since it's easier on my wallet to get a weight set nowadays.

When I do work out though it's usually stuff along the lines of situps, pushups, curls, and squats for about 2 to 3 hours. Nothing major but I'm already naturally very strong so there's not much that I can do to improve myself physically there lol.

I tried going to my school's weight room to work out, but it only lasted one day (I know, I'm pathetic). The only reason was because I was tired of being so damn skinny, but I've learned to bear with it. I don't see much of point in pushing your body so far just to look strong, but that's not to say I don't respect people who do. People who inflict pain upon themselves as a result of working out are pretty stupid if you ask me. As for me, drinking a lot of milk is the only thing I can do.

Calling me stupid huh. There's a saying that goes "no pain, no gain". If you want results, you have to work for it and that often involves some kind of pain.

If people want to go to the gym and enjoy that, then good for them. But they should know that I judge them a lot.

The whole idea of gyms angers me, because there's nothing more annoying than a gym junkie. I have a few friends who are like "oh I gotta go to the gym" and it's just like "ughhh screw you go away". It bugs me. It really just bugs the hell out of me, but I can't even explain why. Like, every time they say that I reply with "...WHY?" and their reply is always the same: "It's how you get fit :P"

    Yes, with the condescending ":P"

I honestly couldn't tell you why it bothers me so much. But it does. People going to the gym bothers me! I think it's because I see people in gyms and people coming out of gyms and they all look like such douchebags and they disgust me. "GOTTA GO TO DA GYM AND GET FIT!"

This is a REALLY inarticulate post lmao - I honestly don't know what I'm trying to say so it's not coming out right haha

But as to the question of whether I work out - I usually just go for walks. I find walking is great exercise and you feel good after it rather than lifting weights and going on machines which just makes me feel gross and tired afterwards. Perhaps if I'm feeling particularly adventurous I'll do some sit-ups or push-ups in the privacy of my own home.

In general, I guess believe in "exercise" as opposed to "working out".

I actually really enjoy the feeling of pushing myself that far. It doesn't actually hurt, and I recover in like 2-3 minutes anyway, even if I pushed myself to the point of collapse. Which I have done.
