4th Gen Question about Diamond and Pearl

I haven't gotten the game yet, but i have a question...

Okay, I was looking at screenshots and I saw the main character with a Psyduck following him....on diamond and pearl, can you make pokemon follow you?

Yeah, there is a place called Amity Square which you can find in Hearthome City. They only allow you to use "cute" pokemon like Psyduck, Happiny, and more. They'll follow you around the park and you can even talk to them. They can find items every 200 steps.

Yes, they tell you which pokemon you can bring in at the front desk.

You can take Pikachu, Clefairy, Psyduck, Pachirisu, Happiny, Buneary and Drifloon for a walk in Amity Square.

They may pick up certain items too
