question

You mean Neo Genesis/ Revolution? Well, you can't buy them in stores, because they're not in print anymore. Not that it matters much, anyway- they're out of format, so the only reason to get them is for nostalgia.

You can, but like I said in another thread, massively unlikely that you'll find one, since these boosters stopped printing eons ago and the chances that some being left unopened is slim.

You should just stick with getting them online or as singles. Ebay basically.

Players will happily part with older cards for small amounts of money, since they cannot be used in game play.

Modified format. Basically, every tournament season, older sets are rotated out (banned, pretty much) to make way for newer sets. It keeps the game fresh, and helps make newer cards stand out. The current allowed sets are Holon Phantoms-on.

so wait if i were to go to a tornement i could use my EX R/S set either? i mean why cant wont they let u use them? i mean if u think about it they all have the right effect, attacks and what not that the newer cards have. this honestly just angers me a little.

No, it's not that. Yes, the powers are fine, and in regular games, they function perfectly well. It's to balance the game. If not for Modified format, the same cards would keep being used, with newer cards being overshadowed by other versions of themselves. It would get boring really quickly.

They're old. Simple as that. The cards change frequently, so the format has to as well.
