Questions from a retailer

    Hello all!

I am opening a gaming store in NY, and I need to learn about Pokemon. I have done some research, but I'd like to hear from people who actually play the game. If I could get your opinions on these questions, it will help me make the best choices on what to carry in my store.

(Moderators: If this post doesn't belong here, please PM me as to where future posts of this nature should go, thanks!)

1: I plan on carrying Majestic Dawn and Secret Wonders theme decks. Which other theme decks are popular?

2: Do people get a lot of the "booster packs", or do you prefer the special tins and promotional packs? Do you have a particular "shopping strategy" to get the right cards for your decks?

3: Is there a such thing as "starter decks" in Pokemon (like they have in Yu-gi-oh)? If so, what are the current starter decks?

Of course, if any of you are in the NY area (downstate) feel free to stop by Ravenblood games in June (when I plan to open), even to just talk about Pokemon. I really want to learn what I can! I will also have an area for playing, and welcome any input from Tournament Organizers...

    Thanks in advance!

i suggest you get the new darkrai tin/deck they sell fast, packs, and promo packs.
open a few packs and if you find a rare card put it on display and it will sell fast.
if you need any more help PM me

    1) I'm not sure what theme decks are popular, sorry. Most people dissect them for specific cards, so to be safe, just stock a few copies of each deck and see what sells the most.

    2) I generally stick with booster packs- but if I have enough money, I sometimes pick up a tin- more cards for my money. Stock both, I'd say.

    3) There are starter decks- but they all suck. They're horrible made, but most people dissect them for specific cards. If you mean decks similar to Structure Decks, then no- Pokemon doesn't have that.

    Hope I helped.

I would buy 2 Boxes of Great Encounters and Secret Wonders.
1 Box of Mysterious Treasures and Diamond & Pearl.
And yes, stock up on the Darkrai/Palkia/Dialga tins.

get ready to start a league.
And plan tournaments for Booster Packs.
