    Hey everyone!

Just as an aside: I'm new to PC as of today, this being my first post. :) So consider this post to be just as much an introduction as it is a request for assistance. It's a pleasure to meet you all and be part of this community!

Right, so here's the meat of my post: I'm making my first ROM hack for FireRed, and my laptop's OS is Ubuntu. Most of you will have already realised where I'm going with this – while AdvanceMap works like a beauty through Wine, no other hacking tool for Gen III seems to. I'd love to be able to run tools that can help me to change the title screen and in-game text, add new enemies, change the 3 starter Pokémon, edit scripts, etc. Does anyone here have any advice they can give me about how I may accomplish this great feat without having to install a Windows operating system on my computer?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out!

Are you new to hacking? A hex editor can edit a lot of things, however, most people just use tools, which are easy to use. There is a great lack of cross platform tools, though.
