    Have you heard any rumors about the Pokémon games? Regardless the rumor ending up as something real or not, Come here and share it to us!

    - When I was young around the GS era, I've heard of rumor like Ghost-type Eevee at school. The 'method' to obtain it varies, some said you need to make your Eevee faint for certain amount and take it to the Pokémon Tower. Some said it has something to do with the night hours, while some said it is related to the Ruins of Alph. Not completely false, as Umbreon evolves during the night hours with high friendship. just don't make it faint a lot though!

    - Bitter herbs will make Eevee evolve into an Umbreon. My classmate even went as far as to take the Pokédex to support his claims. {XD}
    Gold Entry said:
    When agitated, this Pokémon protects itself by spraying poisonous sweat from its pores.
    He says that poison sweat must have originated from the bitter herbs it has taken as an Eevee. This is obviously debunked and Eevee's never gonna evolve into an Umbreon or Espeon if you keep abusing it with such items! Kids, don't try this at home! {XD}

    - Completing the 249 Pokédex will grant you an access to Mew, Professor Oak's going to take you to the space to catch it. Or an another variant, Mew is hiding under the truck in SS Anne Pier. I admit I tried accessing that SS Anne Pier, obviously I found nothing but a lone truck!

    - Don't exit the Team Magma/Aqua Hideout after the raid in Lilycove, a warp hole to access Deoxys/Jirachi will appear. Obvious fake is obvious.

    - Mossdeep Space Center gives access to Deoxys. This sorta make sense, but sadly it didn't turn out to be real.

    - A movie/game about Digimon and Pokémon crossover. I'm glad it didn't turn out to be real! {XD}

    - PokéGods, I've actually heard about this when I have my own PC during the DP era. Not much comment, my instant reaction was rolling my eyes and thought the idea was ridiculous.

    That spamming the A button whilst capturing a Pokémon would make it easier to catch. Too bad that wasn't actually a thing because I did it for years. :( It's actually hard for me to break out of the habit of doing it now, haha. I don't really believe any rumours that I hear now days because the internet teaches me well, but still it's cool to think back on some of the ones that I believed in as a kid.

    I thought that was a universal Pokélogic -- spamming the A button = increasing the chance to capture? xD
    Unless I'm understanding the RNG stuff wrongly, I believe a single button can change the Pokémon's seed. Iirc it's possible to RNG capture rates.

    One of the rumors that turned out to be real was that Surf glitch involving Shaymin and Darkrai in the Original Japanese Diamond and Pearl. Funnily I didn't believed at it when I first heard it, but I tried it and it worked.~ So yeah. ^^

    One of the awesome rumors I've heard is about the 4th Gen Starters. They said the starters were going to be a Psychic-type purple rhino like Pokémon, a Fighting-type white kangaroo-like Pokémon and finally a brown fox-like Pokémon. Of course they didn't turned out to be real eventually, or Piplup and the others wouldn't exist! xD But hey think about Delphox, Greninja and Chesnaught's secondary type. ;)

    Tons. When Pokemon was the big craze in my childhood rumors and speculation were constant. A big one was when Generation II was first being announced, and the rumors of "Pikablu" and "Blackat" started. Pikablu was said to be a Water-type Pikachu of some sort, either a branch evolution or just a regional cousin, and this ended up being 99% true in the form of Marill.

    "Blackat" on the other hand... was said to be an extremely powerful Legendary Pokemon that rivaled Mewtwo in power and rivaled Mew in rarity. It was going to be the pinnacle Pokemon of the second generation, and everyone was going to love it. Ended up being Umbreon or Espeon. You'd figure Umbreon since it's, you know... black, but I heard kids claim both.

    I thought the Pikablu rumors began from Gen I, similar to the reasons of PokéGod? xD

    I haven't heard of that! If there's anything, I've heard about Mewtwo is the infamous Mewthree! {XD}

    I think, the main reason for that rumor was RNG manipulation. Assumably spamming certain buttons during the catching procedure would advance the RNG counter, allowing you to reach a number that equals to a successful capture. Tbh. I'm ot even sure, if the games even accept any input during the catching routine, or if it just blocks any input, which means spamming a button doesn't do anything.

    A couple other rumors, I remember being in gen 1:
    - Mew under the truck
    - Oaks secret basement behind the bin, where you can catch Lugia
    - Pokegods (featuring some kind of fusion of all three starters)
    - actually for me, it was mashing the B button in order to catch something, as long as you don't use a normal Poke Ball
    - if you leave a low level Pokemon at the daycare and let it get to level 100 it would make the guy give you Togepi instead
    - if you beat the Pokemon League 100 times, you'd get Mew

    It's quite possible Pikablu began earlier than I first heard it, but for my school it didn't spread until the earliest teasers of Generation II came out. As soon as they did rumors started spreading like wildfire.

    Granted, part of it could be that I was sort of behind when it came to the games. There may have been earlier mentions of Pikablu in Generation 1 that I missed as a result of having never played R/B/Y. I was still extremely into the franchise itself from the start, though, so I imagine I'd have heard something.

    It was said Pichu weren't able to evolve into Pikachu before level 88, but when it did, it would be a lot stronger than a regular Pikachu.

    My favourite rumour is the one involving Blue/Gary and why he is always mean towards the player character:

    - He has no parents.
    - You beat him in your first battle.
    - You 'kill' his Raticate.
    - You beat him a load more times and you are the guy he can't beat.
    - You seem to follow him around.
    - His Grandfather can never remember his name.

    Hmmm. Holds some water I reckon.

    Also the 'hammering the A button to catch a Pokemon more likely) is something I do to this day.

    For me, it was the B button that increased the chance of capturing a Pokemon :P Funny how so many of us still do it to this day, simply out of habit xD

    My favorite was that there's a Mew chilling in Bill's backyard. I'm pretty sure this one came about from the fact that the developers used the wrong tileset for the mountain behind Bill's house, so it looks like there's something back there.

    I had never heard the rumor about the Mew under the truck when I was a kid, but I did stumble onto the truck when I played through Yellow. My young mind immediately thought "Whoa, what's this truck doing here? I bet there's a rare Pokemon inside/underneath it!" So you could say I bought into the rumor without even having heard it ^^;

    I always thought you held Down + B during the screen transition from the bag to the battle to increase your chances of capture. I know it's fake now, obviously, but I still do it to this day. Force of habit, I guess xD My favourite rumour will always be the iconic Mew under the truck. I never tried it myself, but I will always remember how it had players run around for it, and it kept them guessing for years afterwards. Always iconic~

    I remember hearing the ones about holding B increasing chance of capture, the going to space in RSE and the Mew under the truck. But I'm too smart to fall for their trickery here.
