As reported by numerous sources including Paul Gale Network, two new Castlevania games are apparently in the works. The first of the two is said to go by the name of 'Castlevania: Mirror of Fate' and is said to use the 3DS' cameras which will somehow act as mirrors. Alongside that, there are said to be two playable characters but whether or not one of those two characters is unlocked like the traditional Metro-Vania games or will be able to played simultaneously like Portrait of Run is currently unknown.

A Wii U version of the game has apparently been postponed in favour of a sequel to the more recent Lords of Shadow, which is said to be on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, and Wii U. Supposedly the Wii U and 3DS versions will somehow be compatible as is said to be the same with Super Smash Bros. 4.

Seeing as how Konami will be exhibiting at this year's E3 convention, the rumours don't seem all that far fetched, but what do you think? Sound off below!

I never really cared for Metroidvania style games, so I'm almost certainly going to avoid the 3DS one. It doesn't help that I don't care for the 3DS at all, but I can't really blame Konami for that.

I haven't played Lords of Shadow yet, but it does sound like a fun game from what I've heard. Honestly, I'd much rather have Castlevania go to its roots instead of make yet another Metroidvania game.

Games in the series with a Metro-Vania-style have sold more units than the retro ones, so I highly doubt Konami will be changing that anytime soon, especially since playing through said games with their respective unlockable character(s) suffices for that.

Lords of Shadow looks like a good game overall, but based on what I've heard it's nothing by Castlevania standards and, if anything, is more like the God of War games. Lament of Innocence is often regarded as the only good 3D game in the series for its similar gameplay to the 2D classics.

Another console game? I hadn't heard anything about a Wii-U game, or another console game; just the next instalment in the Lords of Shadow series, which is Mirror of Fate. Fantastic! I've been a Castlevania fan for a long time; I started with Circle of the Moon (which was absolute murder; it's one of the hardest games I've ever played) and went from there.

Lords of Shadow was hit-and-miss with me. It had the most fantastic voice acting I've ever heard in any video game - it makes a nice change to listen to professional actors, and not the same roster of voice actors; Sir Patrick Stewart's narration before each stage was incredible - but it let itself down with the lacklustre story and one-dimensional characters...which, to be fair, every Castlevania game suffers from, but there was an emphasis on the story this time, and it was a disappointment. The combat, I felt, was quite satisfying though; plenty of combinations to try out, and the Light/Dark magic system was enough to differentiate it from it's peers, such as God of War. The trials were extremely challenging - and frustrating - in places as well, so it wasn't without replay value.

It didn't feel like traditional Castlevania, but that was the whole point: it was a reimagining of the series. It would have been nice if it had a better story, but I found it enjoyable enough. A sequel is promising, especially considering how the game ended. I am more than looking forward to seeing where they take it from here...and I'm going to pray for some more excellent voice acting. I will buy the game for that alone.
