Yup, which makes Safeguard very useful when using moves like Petal Dance and Outrage.

Still won't make it worth using competively, as Outrage/Petal Dance are both walled by a good steel type anyway

don't underestimate protect....
you could do as Renten mentioned....
Stall for abillities to work, stall for items to work (leftovers, anyone?)
it's just a move that stalls... a tank w\ Leftovers and protect is not fun to take down.

yea... it's all got its ups and downs.........the downside about protect is that its dependable on the first turn...

The reason that Protect isn't banned is because it has moments where it doesn't work.
Wha people fail to realize is that the rules arent there because some people are always losing, it is because without them, the game is less about strategy & more about dumb luck. For instance, if there were no uber clause, everyone would have em. They are so strong, the only way to compete is to use other ubers. OHKO? If thats not unfaif dumb luck, what is?
