3rd Gen sapphire gem/plate

I'm trying to get the sapphire gem/plate to fix the machine in the pokemon center on one island so I can go to the unknown dungeon, fight the e4 again etc.
I've found the cave on six island that i have to enter but there's a scientist standing infront of it, I know I have to use cut infront of the entrance but how do i get rid of the scientist?
I've tried using cut standing behing the guy but i get the message there is nothing to cut.
Any help would be appriciated

You use Cut on the metal door, and when you're inside, you read the braille language
If it's 5 characters long it's right, 2 characters long it's up, and if it's 4 characters long that begins with a
[.][ ]
[.][ ]
[.][ ]
it's left and the other 4 characters one is down, keep following them instructions read the braille when you fall down and you will end up at the Sapphire plate but then a scientist steals it from you

yes i know i have to use cut infront of/on the door but like i said, there's a scientist standing dead bang infront of the door so i can't get to it. every time i speak to him he says "i found this cave/ruin, don't be so envious" (or something to that effect). am i missing something?

Then you need to grab the Ruby plate. Go to one island and go to Mount Ember. There you'll find the two rockets debating over what the passwords are and such. After you grab the Ruby plate (In the cave all you see is slugma) you can then grab the Sapphire Plate as previously posted.​

HE ALREADY HAS THE RUBY PLATE. YOU CAN'T GET TO FOUR, FIVE, SIX, OR SEVEN ISLAND UNTIL YOU GET THE RAINBOW PASS FROM CELIO WICH YOU GET BY GIVING HIM THE RUBY PLATE. Jeez...

Head over to Four Island and on the right side of the island will be the Icefalls Cave. Make your way through it to find Team Rocket and Lorelei. Defeat them all. Then head back to Six Island and the Scientist will be gone.
