    Say 'NO' to bootleg Pok?mon movie...and other anime.

    Well I don't think this apply much to Pok?mon now since there's hardly any bootlegged movie around. And as you know there's TONS of bootlegged anime flooding around the internet and the one major thing why I tend to say away from it because of the terrible subtitled. 3-4 years ago when I have no clue what bootlegged anime are and how terrible it is. I saw someone was selling the first and second Pok?mon movie Japanese version online. I said to myself that this was great because I wanted to see and hear how the original version was like. Well I bought the movie and was upset about it. Why? Beside the fact of the "engrish" subtitle, they called Pok?mon "Magical Sonny!" That's SO way off. Check the attachment and see for yourself.

    Now I'm watching the movie for laugher. So... say "NO" to bootleg anime (in general)!

    It all depends on who subs it. I get my subbed Pocket Monsters from a Japanese Language Major who gets a professional to sub it. Then his checks scripts and makes sure things are right for the timing.
    Of course, there wouldnt be bootlegs if companies got off their butts and made subbed versions *cough4Kidscough*

    I don't think you can find them anymore, to which is a GOOD thing! Like I said, I bought the bootlegs movie 3-4 years ago.

    Sadly there's more crappy engrish subs out there than professional one and those people are just in for the money. They'll release every since anime with the engrish subtitle while professional will only sub them if you ask them to do so.

    I don't think 4Kids would release subbed version of the Pok?mon series and movie because they don't want "kids" go up to their parents and said, "Mommy! I turned on the translation subbed version and Meowth said the 'a' word!"
     
    XD That was the best worst sub I ever saw! Is the sub movie even called Pocket Monsters anymore? :P Anyway, bootlegs are kinda intresting.
     
    Magical Sonny!? whats wrong with the moron who subbed that XD so if that woulda been the real sub, our anime now would be called: Magical Sonny Advanced XD thats funny
     
    Here's a hint, don't buy the bootleg subs, download them if you want them, most of those bootleg subs for sale are horribly done just for the profit. It would be much easier if you download fansubbed material, you will get the quality translation and probably understand it much better. Like the version of the 6th movie my group subtitled in April, that was a quality sub, unlike the one you bought and was disappointed at.

    Of course nowadays people are downloading fansubs because of the quality of the video, audio and subbing are better than those bootlegs. The first and second movie are the ONLY bootlegs movie I have because like I said before I didn't know about them.

    The only reason they dont sub is the age group they aim it at. They dont think little kids would buy Pokemon with the original version on it.
    Japanese Pocket Monsters doesnt have very many curse words. The people who sub curse words exaggerate the translation to appeal to older fans.
    The Raikou Special is different cause Buson is an evil loudmouth when he gets pissed off

    well, i think the translators didn't know anything about pokemon and literally translated it from chinese. cause i guess it sorta makes sense from chinese to english...lots of anime have that problem. sometimes the anime has chinese translations and people try to translate that into english and it turns out HORRBIBLE. we need direct japanese translations.

    senchi = magical
    baubeh = creatures...baby, something valuable?? sonny??? o_O;;;

    therefore pokemon in chinese = sen chi bau beh
     
    How could we say YES to something like that? o_O;; That's the worst subbing ever...if they can't do a quality job, why do they even try?

    Oh, I forgot to mention that the bootleg movie I bought was on DVD and it also have Chinese subtitle. Maybe that explain why Pok?mon is being called "Megical Sonny." Well I attach the same screenshot but this time with Chinese subtitle. Maybe someone (or you Zapchu; assuming you know Chinese by your post) can translate and see why it's like that.

    Also, maybe you can explain why Mew is called Menghuan and Mewtwo is called Chaomeng? LOL XD
     
    Yeah, the Hong Kong bottleg DVDs aren't directly translated like Zap said. And I think they don't care, after all it's the money they want, and because of the low price they usuall sell their DVDs, I don't think they have the money to hire anyone anyway. Oh well, that's why I stick to fansubs and other downloads.
     
    Think Magical Sonny is Mew? He mentions he's a created magical sonny but he's not a magical sonny...Mewtwo was created from Mew but isn't Mew...that's my best guess...

    it makes so much more sense in chinese subtitles. i think...those translators don't know a lot of english as well. but the chinese subtitles perfectly make sense. :P

    yah, pokemon have different chinese names too! thank god pikachu is still called "pikachu". charmander's called "little fire dragon" (literal translation from chinese) "xiao hwo long" bulbasaur is "meow hwa zhong zhi", literal translation is flower seed. weird ain't it?
