    What is a shiny?
A shiny is a pokemon that is off-color. Shinnies are very rare, so if you come across one, make every attempt you can to catch it.

Is there anything special about a shiny other than the color?
No, shinnies are collector items. A shiny won't be extra powerfull or anything like that.

    Where can I find shinnies?
Shinnies can be found any way you can obtain a pokemon, or in the Battle Tower. You can get shinnies by catching them, hatching them or obtaining them from people (i.e. prof. oak). Some people say you can even see a shiny Raltz when Wally finds one in Ru/Sa, and the poocheyna that chases Prof. Britch as well.

    How often do shinnies appear?
1 out of every 8195 pokemon is shiny on average.

Can I breed shininess over from a shiny parent?
No, this only worked in GSC. You will still have the same chance as normal in Ru/Sa/Fr/Lg/Em.

How do I know if a pokemon is shiny?
If you run into a shiny in the wild, stars will fly around it as soon as the battle starts. Shinnies are also usually obviously discolored.

Is there a place where I can see what shinnies look like?
    Go *link removed*.

just a little apreciation so u can correct ur faq!!

The fact that 1 out of each 8195 pokemon is shiny is totally INCORRECT
following this, when u fight 8195 battles a shiny will appear, well this is not true!

What i mean is that when u battle the prob will be 1/8195 and when u battle again the prob will be the same and not 1/8194.

so that sall i wanted to say AND also that the poochyena that pursuits the professor at the beggining of Ruby/sapphire can also be shiny (i found i my 5th time i started, darn, no pokeballs lol)

Yeah, I know. I said: "1 out of every 8195 pokemon is shiny on average", average meaning that usualy it is true, but of course since random is involved, it won't necessarily be 1/8195.

Thanks for the tip, do you think I should re-word it or something?

yeah because it is still incorrect. It is ALWAYS hte same prob and never changes, no average or that stuff.!

    Congrats on the faq,

And if someone has the time, write a Shiny Pokrmon FAQ and I'll stick it here after you PM me it. Good spelling and proper grammer...grammar...however you spell it. If you're going to be saying "Dunt do dat 2 dem", don't bother.
I did, that's the reason I made this FAQ.
