Simon Cowell to leave American Idol

I was surprised to find this out, though I don't really watch the show, Simon made the show. Without him ratings will surely go down.

I ead in the newspaper this morning.

I really think that's messed up. Paula's already out, so Idol this season is gonna be harsher then usual. But Simon leaving? That's taking it to a whole new level. Simon's always been my fave. I love his criticisims on the performers. Him leaving is gonna be sad... Randy can't leave to, or else, Idol's gonna suck. : \

Oh well, I might see the X Factor though. It's just another version of Idol, though, pretty much, so I don't know...

No! They are showing Idol right now. Stupid final exams. :(

It'll be interesting to see where the show will go from here...or not.

Eh, I always liked Paula better than him anyway. Her being basically unconscious for most of the show was much more entertaining than him stating the obvious and calling everyone awful. He was pretty funny with Ryan, though.

Ellen will probably be the only interesting one now. Kara & Randy are sooo dull. :\

American Idol has been going through some ups and downs ever since Season 8. The inclusion of the fourth judge in the first place had never been really needed. However, with the absence of Paula Abdul this season, Kara Diogourdi was the only judge needed to complete the triangle array of judges again.

This year, American Idol has remained with the idea of needing a fourth judge, and after going through a list of possible replacements for Paula, they came across Ellen. My only hope for her is that she'll at least make the show interesting and appealing while still giving a serious attitude on the contestants.

As for Simon, it was speculated since mid last year that he was going to be leaving American Idol after Season 9. It was said that his contract would be up while leaving it with him saying he was more occupied with a show he had going on in Europe, which proved to be true as we know it. As tough as Simon is, he can still bring out the facts and he can still make the show applauding. Though, without him, I can't say the TV series would remain as good as it is standing to be now, for the very least.

As for my opinion, without Simon and thoughts on going on to a Season 10 I say the show should stop here at the end of this season. It won't be the same, and I'm sure it will lose its fan base if it can't show to be as good as before. 2005 was American Idol's peak season, and ever since it started to plunder. Sadly, it hasn't gotten any better, and that is coming from one who enjoys the television show.

I think it would be smart to cancel the show after, or at least put it to an official end, and bring the "X Factor" over to the U.S. as a new show to bring out the unknown talent in people on FOX. At least, it would put something great to a satisfying end and introduce something new with possible popularity.

Over here, the newspapers had been saying that Cowell is in talks with the FOX network about screening an American version of the X Factor, which is the reason why he is quitting.

Mainly because he wants even more money. On AI he is merely a paid judge, whereas the X factor is his own show.

Wow I heard the news and I got to say that American Idol will go down further in the abyss. I think the 10th season will be its last. I don't watch the show, but I seen how it became popular because of Simon. It isn't going to be same at all. I got to say I wish him luck with his new show. And I hope American Idol can survive. But I doubt it. Maybe Ellen will save it.

I always thought he owned American Idol too. New information.~

I heard he was starting X factor over there, I love some American artists so it'll be nice to see what bands come out of it. Maybe they'll show it on ITV 2 like American Idol ( which my mother loves).

I heard Jay Z was to replace him :O

I dont really like Simon but I will be sad if he leaves. Does this mean he wont be on the current season?

^Nope, he's on the current season.

But yeah, it'll go downhill without him...unless, of course, they bring MJ back from da dead. xD

Oh, so even after the audition and LA, he will still be there for top 12? Thats good.

Isn't Simon the creator of Pop Idol, the original one? I think that if he leaves he will still get a lot of profit, so i don't feel sorry for him.

But I liked Paula, and she left. Now anyone who leaves.. i just don't care..

What I'm wondering is how the US version of the X Factor will work. AI generally runs from January to May, and apparently UK XF runs from August to December. So... is he going to stop judging the UK one and judge the US one, or will Fox have US XF compete with AI? Or, I suppose it could just be on different nights, during the same months, or maybe during the summer, but... I don't know. It seems like if that were the case, he could do both. Surely if it was feasible, he would keep his AI job and his ridiculously huge paycheck.

Oww I loved Simon Cowell the show will never be the same without him.
