Simon Cowell to leave American Idol

I always thought he owned American Idol too. New information.~

Isn't Simon the creator of Pop Idol, the original one? I think that if he leaves he will still get a lot of profit, so i don't feel sorry for him.

If memory serves, it's Simon Fuller who owns the rights to Pop Idol. Always has been, always will be. The X Factor was created over here in the UK by Syco (Simon Cowell's company) with a nearly identical format so that Cowell could have his own show. Fuller took Cowell to court over the similarities of the show, but the an out-of-court settlement was made at the last minute (i.e. Cowell paid Fuller off). Part of the deal was that Cowell would do at least five more American Idol series (2010 being the fifth of those), so he's leaving now as this was the final one he was obliged to do.

Today in the newspaper, they said something about who would replace his spot after Simon "leaves"

I forgot who they said, since I was reading stuff on the Jets, but whoever they said, he apperantly was a guest judge in '05

TMZ came up with the idea for this guy to go... WHO WAS IT! >_<

America Idol will go down hill next season now that Simon is leaving. Simon added to the atmosphere of Idol. I mean, Randy can't keep the show alive as the only original judge. :\

Now I've never been a fan of American Idol. I watch maybe the last two episodes to see who won. If Simon is gone after this season, It'll just be another failure of a show. I won't even bother with the finale. Simon is the 'Bad' Judge. Everyone loves to hate him, but...it just isn't American Idol if it ain't got Simon in it. XD
