Has anyone else ever built an entire team just because of a single move?
My fire team in Gold was built on the cornerstone of Ho-oh's Sacred Fire, I thought that was such a cool-looking move. And then I gave the other members their own fire attack (Fire Blast for Arcanine, Flamethrower for Houndoom, Fire Punch for Charizard) so everyone could be a little different.
It was the same way in Silver, when my first all-psychic team was inspired by Alakazam's ability to learn all three elemental punch TM's. I couldn't get over that, I thought it was awesome. And I still do, he was the big man on my recent monotype run. But anyway I went out and found a bunch of dual-type psychics with different secondary types (Starmie for Water, Exeggutor for Grass, Lugia for Flying) to flesh it out.
Now I'm tempted to do a monotype Bug run just so I can use Heracross's Megahorn, or an electric run for Chinchou's Spark and Ampharos's ThunderPunch and the potential for Magneton's Lock-On/Zap Cannon combo. I'm just so fickle that it's just one shiny object after another, "well this one looks pretty goo--THERE'S A NEW ONE!"
Anyone else ever go through a similar scenario?
