First off, it began snowing at school, months before it regularly does, but that was no problem. It's when we got home that the problems started. First of all, mom and dad were gone. Apparently, they went to see a friend. This is not the first time my sister and I were home alone, so we really weren't that concerned.
However, around 7:45, the power went out. Apparently we were having a snowstorm with pretty strong winds. It was pitch black inside the house, so all we had was a flashlight and that's it. We then began to light a fire (thank heavens for the living room stove). Then we lit some candles (however, we can't do anything without bickering).
I went upstairs to get something and on my way I saw something explode in the distance. A red, slightly pinkish explosion caught my attention. It couldn't have been lightning because there was no thunder. My sister told me that it could have been the snow.
We decided to go outside and play in the snow. There was absolutely no light, yet I could see everything because of the snow. We played for a while and then went inside. We didn't get power back until around midnight. I'm afraid of the dark, especially when I'm in bed, so needless to say, I was a bit cranky in the morning.
We heard before we went to bed that school was going to have a 2-hour delay, but that I was going to have a blood test. Whenever there's a blood test coming, I'm not allowed to eat or drink ANYTHING until the test is done. I'm sick as well so that didn't help.
As soon as I got into the car, school was canceled (last day of school). Also, my blood test was put off until Monday. While that's good for me, I can't deliver my presents to the rest of my teachers. All in all, it was a very strange night and morning.
