Windows Vista is like totally great. I love the glass effects, and they are enabled on my Inspiron 9100 like which have a ATi Radeon Mobility 9600 AGP card, but sadly it only got a rating of 1 since the graphics card was only AGP 2x or 4x and only have 512 MB of ram.

It's highly recommended to have 1GB, it runs smoothly and more responsive. Surprisingly, my Dell Dimension 8400 totally uses less memory than Windows XP and loads faster (figures....) It got the rating of 3.

Not to mention, Vista looks like and runs like Mac OS X Tiger. =O

So I assume that 6 gigs free was from what you had left after the install. >>

There were a few things that weren't as annoying as XP but all in all it really sucked. =/ My brother was pleased that the wireless was working, but really there wasn't anything to get hyped up about in my opinion. The thing at the side when browsing folders ("My Computer" links and etc) was annoying and you had to actually had to look down to look at the file details (Too bad for lazy people.)

If you have "Show hidden files" turned on it also seems to show the desktop.ini's. :p

Ironic to say, Alyssa, my laptop runs faster than my dad's with Vista, and yet my dad's computer has more tech specs and such it isn't funny. XD

Most modern operating systems actually take a lot of hard drive space. After having Mac OS X on my Mac, I find Vista excuseable.

Also, User Account Protection or whatever it is (it's abbreviated UAP) gets too annoying, especially if you try to get rid of shortcuts and such from the desktop. Windows Vista needs to also get rid of Shared Desktops. No way in hell do I want programs I specifically didn't install on my desktop. I will have to suffer from this on my dad's computer because he installs stuff a lot, but since I own my laptop, I don't suffer too much.

Oh yes, and NetBattle users beware - 0.9.6 is incompatible with Vista.
Turning off the glass effects makes it totally run faster, but Aero Basic looks ugly... =(....

Probally if you totally turn off transparency and shadows (which you can), it might speed up Windows, but you don't lose the ability of 3d Flip, task switching like Exposé. You save
atleast 10 MB with transparencies off.

Windows Sidebar... Isn't it simular to Mac OS X Tiger's Dashboard feature?

Compare:

Windows Vista: https://img143.imageshack.us/img143/118/sidebar2zn.png

I turned of UAP, like it since it gets VERY annoying. You can also turn it off in Services.msc. I totally heard that UAP will become less annoying in RC1.

I haven't tried Netbattle, but not all the VB6 runtimes and OCX are included with Vista. Tvian should start using VB.net 2005 instead VB6 for better compatiblity

Edit: Tried Netbattle, and when I try, it freezes

I'm aware of that. I was pointing out that they shouldn't. There's A LOT of useless junk in there that adds to that amount.

Like I totally added eyecandy to my Pokedex Application to totally take avantage of Aero Glass.

It only works if DWM (Desktop Window Manager) is on with or without transparency. If Aero Basic or Windows Classic is on, it will totally revert to the default toolbar color without any enhancements. =(

Almost every program works except my virus scan (I had to replace it with Avast!, which is Vista Compatible.)

I also installed Office 2007 Beta 2 , which works great, but I still use Office 2003 for school work. =p

I haven't been using it, but a couple of my friends are. Apparently their computers are crashing every five minutes or so. o_o

And Joshy, some people need that "junk".

So we need all those crappy effects in our way when we only need to type up a document or play a game?

Whats totally annoying is when I tried to uninstall VMWare Player, the computer kept crashing. I realized that Microsoft Office 2007 was totally causing the problem, so I uninstalled it.

In Opera 9, Sound used in Flash Player still won't play... Firefox looks very ugly under Vista and IE, looks totally nice than the XP version of IE7, but I still use Opera 9 Final as my default browser. =p

ShrimpPopper4life: Are you implying that Windows Vista uses a different theming engine from XP? I know Glass is one difference, but...
Wolt: I mean I actually made visual styles for it already, I'll show you a screenshot once I get 15 posts.

No, I don't use VMWare Player to run vista, since Vista is totally installed on a different partition.

Office 2007 isn't compatible that much with Vista Beta 2 and causes alot of problems.

Here are some of the themes I have made for it

This is my favorite one "Longhorn Build 4074 style"

I made this one also "Build 5219 reloaded"

I actually like the Blue Orb, I think it really suits Vista and it goes well with it, but that's just my opinion.

Well, I don't have the possibility to install Vista, as some of you know, for obvious reasons, but a friend of mine has BootCamp so I managed to try it out.

The speed at which you log in actually amazed me. Even though some items are still loading you could open the Start panel in a flash. I was impressed, really.

What I really loved about it, though, was Voice Control, or whatever it's called. Being able to dictate text, correct it, select it, and everything else really makes it simpler, and the recognition is truly remarkable.

IE7 looked good, too, but I really didn't try that out much. XD

OK, since I'm talking about an Intel Core Duo iMac, I really wasn't expecting any lag with Aero, which really didn't happen. Visual effect-wise though, I never thought that they put in an effect for opening/closing/minimizing windows. XD

Right. Flip3D and live window thumbnails. When switching an app with Alt + Tab, and showing up the thumbnails really didn't impress me, but it's a new and useful add-on in some cases.
Flip3D though, disappointed me. The fact that you just scroll through the windows, I think it's just an "original copy" of Mac OS X's Exposé, and I'd use Exposé anytime other than Flip3D. The fact that it disappointed me was really that I thought that you could actually manipulate the window, and actually align it/flip it the way you wanted. So it really didn't impress me.

The graphical quality once again, is pretty great, I tried out Mahjong for a bit, and it looked alright, and worked pretty well.

One bug, though, which me and my friend found is that everytime you change a setting/open a preference/open the antivirus (which in this case was eTrust's), Vista asked for your authorization. Hopefully this will be solved in Beta3/Final version.

Office 2007 was awesome. It ruled, and the new layout and accessibility really improved. I didn't try it out much, so that's all I have to say. XD

Alright, that's it for now. XD
