What are some good excuses you guys use to get out of doing things that you don't want to do? I totally don't need an excuse to get out of doing something soon!

Just tell them that you don't want to do it. Man up Chase.

Either that or be a filthy liar and say you had a long night and ended up oversleeping.

I actually travel to Canada a lot, so I've definitely used that as an excuse

But if I have no excuses, just pray they cancel on you themselves haha

I just normally say that I have the clean the apartment or do laundry if it's something small. Anything big and I'll be honest about not wanting to go.

I just kinda try to play up not feeling well and hope that works.
I only do that if I really don't feel all there in the first place, however. I don't tend to try to make up an excuse if there's not a hook for one already present in the first place.

Though I guess I did get out of having to come back into work once - it was not scheduled, it was a "can you fill in for this person on very short notice" deal - by claiming "I'm busy right now." Yeah, busy playing a game, perhaps.

(Although because of that and because of some other wrongful assumptions attributed to me at the time, I got quite the earful about that the next day over it, which surprised me since it was the first and only time I had done that. So uhhh, maybe that's definitely not the way to go, haha.)

I dunno, all mine tend to be vague. Not feeling well, busy with things, have something else planned, etc.

I have said "I left a turkey in the oven!" many times while walking away briskly and in a high tone voice and it leaves people too shocked to respond

Being honest usually does the trick.

Agreed. I hate when people are dishonest with me. Just tell me you don't feel like doing whatever we planned and we won't.

I mean, I JUST got invited to something I didn't feel like going to and said yes cause I didn't want to lie and make an excuse, so I can understand why someone would, but if I REALLY didn't wanna go, I'd say no.

Honestly, I'll just ignore the person or turn off my phone or whatever. If it's to my face I'll just say I don't want to. ;/

I've claimed to have concussion often because then there won't be questions of "where's your scar / cast"

Who the heck are you? is a really good one.

Na I'm kidding. I usually am honest or if I'm feeling creative that day, I might come up with a little white like "I have homework" or something stupid like that.

I just say something else came up that was more important or that my mom needed the car. (We only have one car and my dad's work truck that he can't really use without permission, so it works.) Usually I'll just say no or give notice ahead of time though instead of waiting until the day of, and I'll be more upfront about it. The only way I'd do it the day of is if something actually happened that made me need to cancel the plans.

Just the usual, "I'm busy" or "I dont feel well." Then I end with a "maybe another day" and hope they dont invite me to that sort of thing again if I really just dont want to go. I haven't really had to get creative yet haha.
