Ok, so you have beaten a video game. Now all you have to do is watch the credits. You reach the special thanks part and, wait did the credits just thank the fans of the video game series this game is in? Some video game companies do thank the fans of certain video game series. I have seen in the the credits of the following games: Dissidia Final Fantasy (2008), Dissidia 012 duodecim Final Fantasy, and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. So my question is, what video games have you seen this particular special thanks in the credits?

    Yeah it's pretty common.

But usually they are only thanking you for buying the game. :v

I believe it's pretty common, but I like it. It's generally then that I realize that an entire team poured their heart and soul into a game that would represent their company, and they made a special note for you for taking time and spending money to play it all the way to the end.

I like when games do that. It's such a pointless little gesture but it always makes me smile because hey, they didn't have to add it in.

However with the rise of crowdfunding where one of the lower tiers is "we'll put your name in the credits!" it's kind of............. :/ When I played Broken Age, I'm pretty sure literally half the credits were just Kickstarter backers and while it was kind of interesting to pick out people I knew, that got old real fast when I just wanted to go to bed. I kinda wish there was a better way of doing it.

The Mario Kart and Mario Party games always come to mind in particular, since they often even include a little picture of the characters at the end as a "Thanks for playing!" after the credits are over. But while it's definitely common, I think it's a cute little gesture on behalf of the developers, at least. I used to actually look forward to the ends of the credit rolls in the above mentioned games just for the sake of seeing if the staff included a picture or not for your troubles.
