Soo.. I'm making another suggestion thread suggesting that there be allowed an option for suggestion threads that are locked from regular members to post in.. so there isn't all drama stuff ruining a perfectly decent suggestion.

    What do you think?

I dunno if it'd work like PMing a staff member, but this way a member can directly speak to those people there that are gonna make the decisions and be addressing all of them instead of just one of those staffers.. without crazy stuff getting bogged down and so people can avoid getting completely enraged by a suggestion.

Otherwise do you think there might be another way to avoid flame? Like a simple poll? I dunno. It gets pretty crazy.

Also I suggest for people to have a Merry Christmas :3

    Kinda defeats the purpose, no?

Also, if you PM a staff member, they may bring it up in that secret staff only forum.

I'm sure if you have suggestions for supporters only, simply post it in the supporters forum (which does not exist, by the way.) Scrap that, I thought you were a supporter.

If you need to talk to the staff, then you have no choice but to PM the staff so they can talk about it privatley.

Hey! Idea for a small "address the staff" section? Could work? Could also be a waste of space though.. haha.

Yeah I said PMing would only really work if you're trying to address one staff member.. I think it's kinda hard to reflect back and forth with all of them through PM or something like that.

    Meh.

Oh, now I get it a bit more. Yeah, I agree with something like that. Or maybe like a "contact the staff" page where we post something and it automatically gets made into a thread in a special designated staff forum for them to discuss.

I don't think the higher staff members want to discuss every little thing you guys can think of. Most suggestions will effect the entire community, so I feel like the entire community should be able to give their opinion. However, I would like it if the higher staff members paid more attention to threads here and closed them as soon as they get out of hand.

Generally, suggestions that are worth it are taken to the HQ and discussed by the Higher Staff. And, after all, it's always good to get the members' general input on certain matters, so we can know if there is a general support for an idea. Maybe we are a bit idealist, thinking that people know how to manage a proper debate, but the amount of flamewars isn't so high to close all threads from posting by default.

If we made an automatic contact form, we would probably ignore/delete most of the suggestions, since, in the end, only a select few are really interesting.

    Yeah I guess that's really true, Went~

My only kinda like.. kinda question thing now is like.. I made that other thread, right? Well now I have no idea if it's been resolved or like.. being discussed.. or like.. just kinda shoved to the side now with people just ignoring it cause it's a hassle or something.. o_o And if I make another thread asking, it's against the rules, right? Yet if I only contact one moderator, they wouldn't necessarily know, right? And it's all because it had to get locked cause of flaming and stuff which I was trying to avoid but I guess it couldn't be ignored or whatever..

I thought it could've been a good idea to just get staff input for that reason, but I really see what you're saying that only few threads would really need it..

:/ Maybe it's not needed or anything.. but it'd be kinda cool if the option were available.

I kinda sorta agree with Gummy, too.. oh well.. we'll see how it goes.

I'm... trying to divide my attention between a movie, helping my parents prepare dinner, and this so I haven't read all of the previous thread (nor all of this thread) but here's some point form:

    1. I don't like the idea of "private suggestions" in the sense that the only members that can reply to suggestions are the ones who suggested it. I like that anyone can reply with their thoughts. If we keep having major issues with threads, yeah, I'd definitely like to look into this but uuusually we don't have huge problems when things are brought up. (Too many pointless replies and people taking it far too seriously but... doesn't usually get as heated as the other thread.)

    2. On that note, people in Q&F have to STOP pouncing on ideas/suggestions acting like they know everything and like their view is the only one that matters. There's a HUGE difference between replying with a polite opinion and derailing a thread with disagreements. The fact that we have to be hearing a suggestion to make it so the general population can't reply to these things is pathetic. C'mon guys, I expect better of you.

    3. Often times when the staff (usually the higher staff, when it comes to suggestions not concerning a single forum) are discussing something important, we'll drop a note in the corresponding thread to let everyone know. Or someone will drop an official negatory/positive stance. We can see about doing this a bit more often. I can say right now that we are looking into this blog thing and hopefully we'll come up with a solution that'll help. Might take a while since it's the holiday and we don't have time to tl;dr at each other all over the place (a drawback of HQ xD) but we'll see.

    4. I... I think that was everything and I'm sick and lost my train of thought lmfao. ;_;

Awesome reply, Erica. I just wanted to add one more thing to it: I'm of the opinion that if members can (civilly) discuss the major suggestions, it gives us higher staff a better opinion of what the community really thinks of the idea. Sure, if the HQ members really don't like the suggestion it'd be shot down, but if you had private suggestions and there were all sorts of problems with your suggestion, you wouldn't get a very wide range of suggestions from such a small group of staff (because believe it or not, we don't know all of what's best). It'd be a much better idea to get members thinking up some ideas - sometimes it could increase the chance we'd actually consider something.
And then adding onto your reply... it IS good to see what the community at large thinks of an idea. Sometimes if we (the staff) think an idea is silly but members see it in a different light, it can change our view/stance on it. :3

...but not if everyone is just parroting the same negative opinion. ie "omg that would never work, it's a bad idea, gtfo" And I've been noticing that a lot lately. (Or every time I've ended up in this forum in the last while, anyway.)

I guess that's really true, then.

Perhaps this section just needs to be reminded to keep an eye out once in a while for flamewars and crazy disagreements.
I do really like when the community tries to contribute and stuff, but then it gets really hard for when someone just gets simply shot down because of personal opinion and then people start quoting each other and having all these comebacks and it's like.. I dunno..

Yeah.. so.. I guess this thread can be locked now. I'm convinced that we probably don't need a section or option for staff only discussion..
but yeah.. perhaps an extra eye can just be on the lookout or something cause that'd be super helpful to make sure things don't get out of hand when a thread starts to get hot or popular or something.

Thanks for the listen! And merry christmas :3
