    This is not my site, but I'm planning on joining it (awesome, unique plot!). Anyway, my need to control everything and desire to beautify the net have me wanting to offer them a new layout. I think I could manage the HTML (maybe) but I have no ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do for a layout with this site?

    check the webmaster resources thread. there are a number of websites listed with free (and pay) layouts available.
     
    BTW layouts aren't all HTML

    Something organized into sections would probably do it
