    [PokeCommunity.com] Superpowers vs. Human Powers

Do you prefer superheroes that have inhuman super powers or those that do not have inhuman super powers?

Why admire those with power...Because they are given powers and choose to do good rather than evil.
Why admire those without powers...Because they are self-made and must work within human limitations.

I prefer a super hero with legit superpowers like Superman or Spiderman. They are just so much more superherolike than one with human powers and special gadgets and stuff to help them.

This is totally a thread our resident superhero, Livewire, needs to comment on js

I think superpowers. I would like to fight crime like Wonderwoman, I mean, Superman.

I prefer superheroes with inhuman powers, but I find the ones with excessive gifts exceedingly boring. There's no joy if the hero is more or less indomitable. Case in point being Superman, that icon of near-omnipotence. He was born in an era where the American public needed a icon of perfect, pure heroism to get away from the Great Depression for just a moment. Such a powerful icon was excusable just then. Even the modern incarnation of Superman holds little draw for me, no matter how hard they've tried to make him dark and take flight from the campy persona he had for 60 years.

i am always rooting for the underdog, so...

i like heroes that are made. ;) literally in this gif's case

It depends on how well they're written. I've seen good and bad superpowered heroes and ordinary heroes. The powers or lack thereof don't really matter; it's the character underneath that does, and any character who is defined by their powers or lack of powers is destined to be a crap one. The ONLY time a character should be defined by their abilities is if they have either just gained or lost them and are trying to come to terms with that. Otherwise, the powers shouldn't factor into it at all.

I think the best kind of heroes are the ones that make the best of what they have. I've become extremely fond of Thor since he lost the ability to wield Mjolnir; he's become a much more interesting character now that he isn't all-powerful. I've always liked Iron Man because he's always made himself relevant, as well...I mean, he actually beat Magneto in the Avengers vs. X-Men storyline. Even Woverine started to actually develop a little prior to his death when he lost his healing factor. But then you've got heroes like Captain America, the Hulk and Ant-Man who just never go anywhere, are dreadfully boring no matter who is writing their stories.

I typically find myself reading more comics about heroes with powers than not, but that's mostly because there are more heroes with powers than not. If you don't have any powers, unless you're Iron Man, you're often severely limited in the number of villains you can realistically take on...and you're often given a minor role in a major team and hardly ever seen.

I like superheroes that aren't one-of-a-kind (and if they aren't human, are just typical for their species). Kind of like Wonder Woman, Raven, Starfire, and Black Widow. So I guess that would fall under those without superpowers.

I definitely prefer the ones with super powers. I admire the ones without but in the end if I'm going to see a movie I wanna see someone moving shit with their mind or levitating or some shit

EDIT: Actually scratch that. I don't really care as long as they're women.

    I prefer superheroes with superpowers.

    My favorite heroes are:
Buffy Summers, Dr. Strange, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Phoenix (Jean Grey), Emma Frost, Wolverine, Rogue, Psylocke, Starfire, Humantorch, Songbird, Storm, Mera, and Aquaman

Not a fan of techie/robo/gadget superheroes...I like the real deal!

Don't get me wrong, I really like Batman. He's one of my favorite superheroes, but I never considered him super. He was just a really rich guy who knew how to kick ass and take names...

I like most superheroes, but I think the superpowered ones are more fun. If you gave them cool balanced powers, you can do some great stories with them. Superpowerless heroes are cool when they don't fight strong powered enemies. I feel like those characters (Like batman) are more likely to be written badly.

    I LIKE THIS THREAD

I prefer superheroes with actual super powers, because I think it's more interesting to see what they do with them. Superman can easily destroy the planet if he wants to, but the thought never crosses his mind. But then on the other hand you have someone like Captain America, who is super strong and fast, and doesn't quite have the powers like the rest, but is really "super" because he's not special and still saves the day. So I guess it depends on their character and how they choose to wield power, or lack thereof.
