Let's talk about some Abyss moments. Who else here bawled when Asch died?

Mind refreshing my memory? It's been awhile since I last played it. I think I'll replay again soon. It's probably the only Tales game I've gone through once.

Near the end, Asch helped Luke get away by fighting an army of replica solders. It later shows him killing the last one after being stabbed three times, then dies.

I cheered. |D I couldn't stand Asch for most of the game. He's still my least favourite main character by far. (It used to be a tie between him and Natalia but then she grew on me.) On subsequent playthroughs I still didn't feel bad about it. He just rubbed me the wrong way all the time. I only felt bad for Natalia and even then... well, let's just say I don't care much.

The part of the game that breaks my heart is that we don't know who came back in the end--Asch or Luke. And whoever it is, even if its some merger of the two, it's gonna leave one of Tear or Natalia heartbroken. :'(

How DARE you!? Kiddin, but Asch in my opinion is one of the best Tales characters ever. Research shows that in rare and strict circumstances, a replica and original can fuse. Both Asch and Luke's fonons were disapearing. Being in the core with a disapearing body most likely triggered the circumstances. To put it simply, it's highly likely that they fused. So I think it's awkward but both Tear and Natalia should be happy.

Actually, iirc, research shows that with the Big Bang, after an original dies and the replica is still around, the original will merge into the replica's body, effectively "deleting" the replica's existence and taking over the body. So it's more likely that Asch came back except they were also a very special case so I have no idea what the final outcome was.

But yeah, I thought Asch was a dick and he never improved (imo) through the course of the game so I never liked him at all. 8/ My favourites were Jade and Anise.

Interesting. I'll have to do more research. But I liked Asch even though he was a dick. Besides, I can't ever imagine him smiling and that's why I liked him. Oh yeah! I just beat the cameo battle in Unknown mode! Hardest. Battle. EVER!

If you're interested in that, play through and do all the Contamination Effect sidequests. :O It follows Jade doing a bit of research and it gives you more information on the connection between Luke and Asch.

Oh yeah forgot about that. I'll check it out.

The thing I didn't like about that game was how nobody liked each other for the first twenty hours or so.

Other than that, it was very good.

Well yeah you can't expect to be instant friends. That's what made the game more realistic.

Abyss was an awesome game, probably one of the best JRPG's I've ever played.

As for the ending, I thought it was Luke's personality and soul inside Asch's body. But bleah, it's one of those "let the fans decide what happened" kind of endings. I did well up a bit at it though.

Guy and Luke liked eachother within the first 20 hours of the game. :B

Considering Tear's reaction, I guess I would say that it was Luke. But yeah, I think they had that ending to leave it to the fandom.

    I didn't cry when Asch died, but I definitely did when Ion died. :|;;

*sniff* Poor Ion and Asch. Freakin epic moments.
    R.I.P Ion
    B.I.H. Asch...kidding!

That's what made the game more realistic.

Yes, because everyone knows that you can sink entire continents with music.

And if Asch and Luke are united at the end, doesn't that make them a whole new person, thus erasing BOTH Asch and Luke from existence?
