Talking to NPCs

Of course! When I first started out, in Gold, NPCs are who taught me the game! Without them, new players would eb stranded with no idea what to do (like in most JRPGs :P). It's always nice when they give you free items and sometimes they say the funniest things xD

I try to talk to all of them, sometimes I skip past some if I am rushing though. I like getting the free stuff and sometimes reading the random dialogue.

I always try to talk to NPCs! You can often get some useful items from them and if not, it's always interesting hearing what they have to say. Some of it is rather boring to skim through but most of the time, talking to the NPCs add to the experience of playing the game. :]

Of course I talk to Npcs, And not just for the Free stuff but for the Dialogue as well.
My favorite NPC dialogue on any pokemon game has to be the Nurse in the X and Y Battle Mansion.

Huh? Do you want me to restore your Pokémon's health?
...Listen. As you can see, I'm taking a day off today.
Once I leave the Pokémon Center, I'm an ordinary girl, OK?

I'm quite stressed out from work. Today, I'm letting the stress out by watching battles.

When I go back to work, I'll do my job, so please leave me alone today, OK?

Yup, after all, that's what NPCs are made for. Other than giving out useful items (sometimes Pokemon), they may also have references or dialogue that you never thought anyone would ever say. Some provide useful stuff for beginner's that an established player would find useless, and others are there simply to bring more life into the region. My favorite is Pacifidlog's Yes Town guy in the original RSE; I don't remember if he did make it to ORAS though.

Spoiler:

NPCs are what make Pokemon games all the more interesting! You never know when one'll hand you a worthwhile item, or maybe an egg! Even if I'm replaying a game, I still tend to give all the NPCs a visit, though I'll skip through a lot of the dialogue in most cases. Some of them can be quite entertaining, though!

Depends if I'm trying to rush through the game or enjoy it fully. Once I've accomplished so much on a game I will usually talk to more NPCs. I agree that they can make the game more interesting, however NPCs in Pokemon are often very dry and repetitive too. Telling me tips I already knew for years isn't very interesting. I do enjoy the free rewards though I guess.

If they give free items or pokemon even eggs otherwise I don't bother with such stuff

I'm one of those people who talks to every NPC I come across throughout my playthrough (I also look in every house and explore the entire area when I first reach it). That's because I don't want to miss out on anything--free items or important pieces of information, for example. And if I miss it the first time around, it'll be tedious to backtrack and try to find everything I missed.

When I'm rushing through the game (like I was with White 2) I usually don't even bother speaking to them.

it's not until after the game is over that I really explore all the cities and talk to the NPCs. I'm a bit more relaxed after beating the game because I'm not super focused on getting through the Gyms/Plot.

I talk to everyone in the area if I can, just in case they have a neat gift or item of some sort to give me. I do it in all of my adventures, since I forgot which NPC's actually give you stuff, heh.
