Does anyone else think that if Team Rocket laid off Pikachu for a while, they could actually catch and train some decent pokemon?
    I do

    hmmm....Yeah, they probably could.
They could also spend more time training their own... since they probably aren't at too high a level...if Ash's weaker Pokemon can beat them and all.

I forget the episode, but one time they went off to catch a bunch of strong Electrode...and suceeded! Of course, Ash found something ethically wrong with catching hordes of pokemon (Tauros, Ash?) and stopped them. Just goes to show...

Well, what stuns me is their failure to report their current captures...I mean, for us in the games, Chimecho and Seviper are actually rare Pokemon, yet did they say a word to Giovanni? Nope.

I also think that if they once-in-a-while tried to catch the wild Pokemon with Pokeballs instead of nets that Ash wouldn't be able to complain.

Well. I think in some episodes they don't always try to capture Pikachu. I think in some episodes they go after the episode's feature pokemon. Like in Wishcash and Ash, they went after the wishcash for that episode and didn't even metion capturing Pikachu.

Then if they did capture them in pokeballs that would mean that they have money. Team Rocket themselves don't have much money as we can see.

No, they have money. They just always blow it on machines made to catch Pikachu.

I think they are at a high enough level, but the writing of the series is stacked against them, so obviously they have write loopholes. Like having Grovyle beat Dustox by frankly implasible means.

I think if they told Giovanni their newer catches, they'd have to give them to him and that can't be for many reasons. Whereas when they started, their Pokemon were a dime a dozen really as many Rockets have Arbok and Weezing.

But I agree and frankly one of my main beefs with the anime is the disparity of power between the twerps and the Rockets. At least the other venues don't pull that crap. Sighs. As for the money issues, they have it, but yes, they do blow it on other things like the mechas and I kinda question the validity at times. Silly anime writers.

yup they could.. in fact, if Ash and gang hadn't meddled in their illegal pokemon catching, they would have gotten a lot of pokemon for Giovanni..

oh oh~~! I forgot to add on to my previous post.. I was thinking as well, Team Rocket would flourish if they decided to lead decent lives... say, open a store (w/o cheating on their customers of course...) and make big bucks.. Certain episodes did show that these guys do have the potential to entrepeneurship (spelling?).. they did succeed before.. XD
