I tried to put "ROM Hacking Developer and Administrator" in my usertitle (because that's what I am) and "Admin" got censored. Could you guys remove this? It was put into vBulletin because a lot of vB3 forums would use it to identify staff, but nobody here does that with them. We have gratuitous username formatting and userbar CSS for that already so it's kinda old code lol.

I presume the likely reason why it's there is because it was intentionally blocked to not allow non-staff to use staff titles. That's what I think is probably the case here.
Now it's just an object of expression, so the privelege behind the censor is kinda moot. That's what I'm saying here, anyway.

The term "Administrator" still means something here, though. And you're not one. Does it mean something special in the ROM Hacking section that I don't know about? I don't know why you'd want to call yourself one unless ROM Hacking has its own definition for the word (which it shouldn't).

In PC terms you aren't a "ROM Hacking Administrator" which is the sort of misinformation that this block is designed to prevent. Just use something else that doesn't make it sound like you hold some sort of staff position here.

PC isn't the only website on the planet you know

No, but the fact remains that you are not staff on PC itself, which is why the block remains in place.
I'm not trying to pretend to be staff on PC, though. You guys are coming at this like it's totally centered on this forum, and that's not my intention at all. It's centered on the other website of which I am an admin and developer for.

If I was really interested in impersonating any of your sacred hallmarks on this site I'd make a CSS userbar, but I'm not so I really don't. It's a word lel, what idiot is going to buy something phony like that anyway

Maybe someone that's new to the site and doesn't understand the username coloring system yet?
I dunno man, I think that's really debatable lol. PC's group badges and styling are one of it's gems as a website, it's really hard to avoid noticing. But I digress.

Like I said before, the censoring of admin was one of those basic defence mechanisms of 2003-era forums to validate users. PC has been moving farther and farther away from the original vB3 both in code and in culture, so it's not really that meritous of a protection mechanism anymore. It's just fruitless with all of the userbars the way I see it, and what with usertitles being a means of expression it proves quite limiting - how many people on here use their usertitles to quite plainly title themselves? "Aspiring programmer," "Intermediate scripter," and "C/C++ programmer" are stuff I've seen in the development forums, among others. Surely if I've gone and earned a title I should be able to show that, right?

i fail to see why 'rom hacking developer' on its own is insufficient for your needs
it seems to be just fine as it is in your signature anyway

If this had anything to do with "needs" PC wouldn't exist at all. This forum is here because it's wanted here. It's another fun and creative pastime for people to participate in. If you really need a more specific definition of the positives of this section, look at it this way: this forum acts as a bridge between several different sections of the community - in particular the creative forums. It is not only a place for us to showcase our creativity and ideas and a potential resource for the other creative forums, it is also a place where we can get to know PCers who we wouldn't ordinarily interact with much without this section as a focal point.

Basically, it's just a fun creative section that has the added perk of bringing the community closer together.
So it's your wants, but it's my needs. Okay.

you really must work on your pr, honey

    to rephrase my statement then
i don't know why you want to include the word admin in your usertitle when the purpose of said adminship is sufficiently spelled out in your signature and does not have the possibility of you being misconstrued as forum staff or a representative of them
your want in this scenario is not something that needs to happen because it holds no benefit

Yeah, as Alli said, we're discussing this (though it likely won't happen - just to be honest and upfront). Shenanigans explained why we're, in all likelihood, saying no. The reality of it outweighs the assumed intelligence or lack thereof.

Just gonna shutter this up for now. When we have a final response (if it's different than the one I just gave), we'll post here. Otherwise this thread seems to be declining and the relevant points have been made.
