My very first level 100 was a Dewgong that you got as a Seel in Pokemon Red/Blue for trading a Ponyta to some guy. My second level 100 was an Alakazam and my third was Charizard. I don't even know why I bothered to get a dewgong to level 100, I must've liked it for some weird reason.

Persona 3 Portable has.. a lot of grinding. Not to mention you have even more worries than just leveling up. (200k for healing my party? wth?)
So you did take up my advice to pick up Persona 3 Portable after all. Good.

Persona 4, being built on the same gameplay principles as Persona 3 and its remake, also requires grinding to some extent. The extra cash comes in very handy when you do constant fusing and resummoning of Personas. Even though you get diminishing returns on XP gains, even a little XP is better than nothing.

I never really had to worry about charging that damn fox for recharging my party's SP, though. Back when still had to make use of the fox's services, I usually made enough money per run to make a tiny profit after paying him. Once I got my hands on some Mage's Marks and a few Personas with the Invigorate ability (Succubus, where would I be without you?), I never had to use his services again. It also helps that the basic elemental attacks like Garu, Agi, and Mabufu are still useful well into the mid-game if all you want to do is knock down your enemies to prepare for an All-Out Attack. At this point, I'm pretty much waiting on Himiko (soon to be Kanzeon once I max out Rise's Social Link) to learn Relaxing Wave so I can get about to spamming -dyne spells with true impunity.

As for HP, let me put it this way: When you're a good 10-15 levels above the highest-level monsters in the latest dungeon you've unlocked, you're practically untouchable. The only things I have to worry about at this point are making sure that the main character, Chie, and Kanji don't kill themselves through repeated applications of Rampage, Kill Rush, and other physical skills; judicious application of Diarama and Mediarama renders that a moot point, however, especially given that I don't have to worry about SP either.

I have to much physics homework... :(

I had an Empoleon level 99 on my old Pokemon Diamond, but it was that faithful Christmas eve, when I was about to level up, that it broke. MLIA. I have a pimple the day efore school starts :(

Wow.. you sure like to talk about that! Not that it's a bad thing.. I get those things too, depending on the subject..
Well, I don't really plan on making some super Persona or something.. I want Thanatos before the final boss. All the climbings kinda make me sick, so I took a pause from the game. Not to mention I can't find a recipe for some of the Death Arcana Personas, and fusing Alice also seems like a bother..
EXP started becoming easy.. well money, it's practically my fault for buying the special clothes (bikini/butler suit) and not using it to get something else..
But, what would a game be without a difficulty of some kind? I'll get over it... one day.. when my brother decides to get the PSP back to a higher firmware.. Useless Sony and their firmware updates corrupting save files.

I hear a lot about this Persona series. What's it like, and is it worth perhaps shelling out for?
I'll just reiterate what I told Elia a couple of months ago:

Mechanically, one could say it's equal parts Pokémon (acquiring Personas, using them in combat, and fusing them to acquire more powerful ones), traditional dungeon crawler (ascending Tartarus in 3 and journeying into the TV World in 4 to fight Shadows), and dating sim (social interaction plays a major role outside of combat and can influence how strong your Personas are through the concept of Social Links). Thematically, it owes a lot to the theories of Carl Jung, 4 far more so than 3. I doubt these descriptions do the games any real justice, but whatever.

If you have a PS2 and a PSP, I'd suggest getting both Persona 4 and Persona 3 Portable. I'd stay away from the original Persona 3 due to certain faulty mechanics; no full team control and the stupidity of the allied AI both come to mind. In any case, they're certainly worth shelling out for if you can find them.

Just bought Persona 3 Portable and a non-glitched version of Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep.
Persona is pretty good, though I really do like Orpheus and somehow I get the feeling that he won't be useful for very long...

It's fantastic. Problem is, we SMTards horde our Persona games, so the chances of finding used ones are slim(if you're lucky enough, they're still ridiculous expensive), and they're not being made new anymore. You'd have to order it offline :| P3: FES is relatively easy to find, and P3 Portable just came out, so no problem finding that lmfao.

BUT FOR ME, Persona 4 > Persona 3. Purely because it was more lighthearted than P3 was, and I like my Brosuke.

I was able to find a lot of pre-owned copies of Persona 4 while browsing the local GameStops, but they're still priced at US$27 or thereabouts. I haven't had any luck locating either original Persona 3 or Persona 3: FES, though. It's probably high time for me to get a PSP, if only to get Persona 3 Portable while it's still in print.

In any case, I like having full control over my party and allied AI that's actually intelligent (or at least not dumb as rocks), so I'd rather just go for Portable if I want to get a Persona 3 fix. I'm contented with 4 for now, though.

Yo, Minato, I'm real happy for you, and I'mma let you finish, but Souji Seta was one of the greatest pimps of all time! ONE OF THE GREATEST PIMPS OF ALL TIME!

Well then you were lucky ಠ_ಠ VERY LUCKY. That's the first time I've ever once heard of someone finding more than one, if any, used Persona 4s... in my entire life lmfao ಠ_ಠa... When I had to buy a new disc(my brother left it out and LOLSCRATCHED), there was only one used one they could find, And it wasn't even within my city.

Yeah, I was shocked too when I found at least three used copies of Persona 4 while browsing the used game racks at a single GameStop. Since the town I live in somehow has three GameStops, I was even more shocked to find out that the other two locations had Persona 4 in stock as well. I really am lucky in that regard.

P3: FES was impossible for me to find.... actually took me like a few weeks to find a copy and it was the only copy left out of all the stores I went to.
