The Fame Checker was a Key Item in FR/LG only that recorded information about certain important characters in the game. You get information about them by talking to various NPCs, reading those magazines in various Pokemon center bookshelves (yes, this was a feature in FR/LG), and by reading sign posts, and various other means. Each person has six different information stored about them. The characters that you can collect information on are all eight of the Kanto Gym Leaders and Elite Four, Professor Oak, Daisy, yes, Daisy, of all people, Bill, and Dr. Fuji, which is sixteen characters to collect information for. If you get all the information for every one of the people in the Fame Checker, they leave you a recorded message. While completing the Fame Checker doesn't really give you anything, it's fun to learn more information about the "important" characters in the game, so to speak.

Did you bother collecting information in your Fame Checker? If so, did you complete it?

I actually did. By doing so, I got to see what Dr. Fuji & Bill look like in sprite form, which is cool. While I think the Fame Checker is a very useless Key Item, I guess it gives you a thing to do in the post-game, albeit, a very SMALL thing, since most of the extra Fame Checker information isn't available until the post game anyway...

Also, fun fact, Koga's daughter, Janine is misnamed by the Fame Checker as "Charine", the more you know?
