Hey, guys. As I fail at making Pokémon RPs, perhaps an Other Roleplay will work out better? The RP is based on and a tribute the works of H.P Lovecraft and August Derleth. No knowledge of these works is required, howewer. The PG-rating stems from violence/gore, alcohol, some horror, and strong language. Mark that this RP is nopt focused on combat or traveling at all. It is a test of your skills to socially interact with other players characters and your abillity to play out a personality.

Ahem... allow me to tell you the story... of....

---------------------------------------- The Voice of the North Wind-----------------------------

The setting, as well as the plot

What on earth could malke seven people hating each other spend two weeks together in a recluse location? Counting out money, of course. We find ourselves in the glorious continent of North America, in the year of 1920. February marks that the freezing and snow-laden winter intends to stay for a long time, and life isn't easy for the guys at the bottom. However, our story focuses on a far more wealthy man. Sir Waldemar von Perchafen is a posh, arrogant snob. A boy spoiled by his mother, he inheritend an immense fortune from his father, the business king Aaron von Perchafen. The sole child of the late busineesman holds no interest in economy- he has well-paid men to take care of that for him. Waldemar happily drifts through the years, squandering the lrge savngs and the impressive income away as it is served to him, and he has acclaimed himself to a life of luxuries and pretty women. As one can understand, he is not married and lives all alone.

However, the disgusting prick does have an inner circle of friends (as in «friends»). Seven succesful people he got to know in his youth, all succesful, but never matching and such fawning over Waldemar's wealth and social staus. By spending much time with him, they hope to earn his favour- and a sizeable part of his eventual estate of course. Of course, they hate both von Perchafen and each other. Their constant backstabbing and plottings against each other has always been a lethal game. Waldemar may be unaware of this fact, but most likely he is simply highly amused by it. He enjoys being the constant center of attention and has on several occasions played his faithful companions out aginst each other.

And now he is presented witha golden opportunity to do this. His late uncle, the rich but recluse Charles von Perchafen, has just left him a large and fashionable hunting lodge in Manitoba, Canada. We can see the way things are going, right? A two-week hunting party was instantly planned, and of course his inner circle are all joining him for this event. He snickers of the chance to play mind games with them. They snicker at the chance to get rid of some troublesome obstacles keeping them from gaining the entire estate of the fifty-year old snob.

So, how about the rumors of hauntings at the lodge? Nonsense. The local legends telling dreadful stories about the wilderness surrounding the lodge? Pish-push. The fact that Charles von Perchafen was found frozen to death miles from the cabin? Nothing to worry about. We, of course, will get to know things better....

So, who are you? A succesful man or woman, that's it. You are rich, powerful, well-connected or a combination of the three. Although you cannot hope to match Waldemar, you have a lot of respect among common people. And now this hunting party comes up. What a chance to make life easier for you in the future. Whatever that means to you....

    Name: Rosemary Walker
    Gender: Female
    Age: 38
Appearance: Typical of all 1920's women, the color of her skin is unknown, because long dresses make her skin and body invisible. Her dresses are night black or snow white. She wears a luxurious golden necklace, made by her deceased great-grandmother, a Spanish immigrant of 1848 named Alba Torres, from a necklace made of gold from the 1849 Gold Rush. Her socks are long and black, with high-heels of the same color to keep them from getting dirty. A rounded-rim violet cap covers her head. The eyes cannot be seen very clearly because of this.

While inside, during informal situations or while at her teaching job, her hair is revealed to be short and straight. The color is quite gray, due to her old age. The hair only reaches the top of her neck. The front side of her hair barely touches the forehead. Her thick eyebrows color matches the color of her hair. The eyes are wide and blue. They are cloaked a little by her clear glasses. The mouth is of medium size. This woman is tall and of average weight.

Occupation: She is a teacher at Harvard University.

Personality: Rosemary is a very well-spoken person. She always talks very formally and usually has a nice word or two to say. As shown by her high level of teaching ability, she is an intelligent woman. She loves to read, write, and teach. She always wants to learn more about the world and the history of her planet. Always seeming to know where everything is at all times, Rosemary is a very organized woman. She is also very forward-minded. She is always planning ahead in life, teaching, and her goals, possibly why she is so successful.

Successfulness also causes snobbiness, which is what this grand woman has. Of high status in society, she loves to brag about her success, which turns other women and men off. Also, very boring would fit her description as well. She likes to keep things the same, day after day. That is why she was actually against women's suffrage. She is very stubborn and impatient. If a student doesn't do their homework or makes even the slightest noise, she sends them to the principal's office. Her closed mind gets others angry with her, as she does not like much and will reject anything she doesn't like, no matter what the person does to the request, rule, or law. She is a little too confident in public situations, and sometimes is rude on accident.

Her husband, Elrod Walker, is angry with her because of Rosemary's busy schedule. She has too little time for friends and family because of her successes. Success comes from hard work, which Rosemary has definitely done in the past and still is doing today. She is a little concieted, because she thinks she is amazing and the highest woman of the world in 1920. She lacks the appreciation for others.

Strengths and weaknesses: Her strength is in the classroom. She is a fierce and tall woman while teaching English. She feels good when sending people to the office. She is strong in language, buisness, science, history, and sewing. She stinks at mathematics, music, and doesn't have a very good social life. Her medium grounds are athletics and technology. She is really cheap, and cannot go a day without spending money. She is also weak to family, always wanting to spend time with them.

    I'm always detailed on history.

History: Born at a time when America was rapidly changing, in 1882, on August 29, Rosemary has experienced much in her 38 years. She was from a rich family, and she was the eldest member. Her family lived in New York, until they discovered land out West, which is where they moved, when Rosemary was 3, so they could obtain more fertile land to farm. They ended up getting about 20 acres.

Rosemary had to work the land with the newly invented steel plow and other recently invented machines. She worked for 3 hours on most evenings, tending to the crops, animals, and everything else. Sometimes, her work day was full, when her parents were unable to perform their part.

Her younger brothers took the farm over when Rosemary went to a very well-respected private school. The young girl was very scared of school and the farm. She was nervous of prejudice, the teachers, and the difficulty. She was nervous for the farm because she didn't trust her younger brother to work the farm.

She soon realized she had nothing to fear as she found the environment friendly and fun. She did not find some of the kids fine. She saw them as improper slobs and insulted them, though that was not her intention. At that school, she said, "I want to be a teacher and educate the young people of America." She was 7 at that time. Her teachers were all very pleased with her grades and ability, so she was able to skip a grade.

A terrible tragedy then happened at that time. The grandfather of the family, Juan Torres, perished. He was a great man, but died because of being stabbed by his rival, Lucien Beauchamp. The family was really sad, but Rosemary worked through it. She lived like normal, but put more effort. Rosemary wanted to be like Grandfather Torres, and knew it was no good to feel sorry over his death.

Her family slowly recovered and they lived normally for a while. When Rosemary turned 10, a plains fire destroyed their home. The father, two of Rosemary's siblings, and Rosemary survived. They lived homeless for a while, but Rosemary still was not affected emotionally. She earned money by helping other people and helping others. She didn't have time for school. Good thing she was ahead a grade.

Mm, this looks like a Very Serious Roleplay. I can't wait to see how it involves Lovecraftian horrors. :D

    Name: Thomas Paul Harper
    Gender: Male
    Age: 40

Appearance (p-p-p-padded): Thomas is very tall and wide-shouldered. These days he is filling out rather around the waist, and would rather sit than stand. He is always dressed formally in black or dark grey colors, and prefers solid coloured ties. He carries eyeglasses but wears them only for reading fine print.

His face looks tired and wrinkles are appearing the the corners of his eyes, which are clever and attentive. He has a broad, genial smile, though his mouth is stern. His salt-and-pepper hair is thinning but his hairline is still stable.

Occupation: Owns a number of manufacturing factories on the east coast and shares in steel. Prospered during the war and is enjoying that prosperity.

Personality: Very composed and deliberate. He never says a careless word, never hurries or acts rashly. He is conservative in his motions so as to not intimidate people, but knows how to act to use his size to full advantage. He has a good, logical mind and nerves of steel that have helped make him successful throughout life, especially in business. He attributes his success to nobody but himself, and holds himself in high regard. Some might consider him arrogant, but he doesn't concern himself with those people.

Tom judges people by their social level. Those at his level are his friends and allies, though few are truly close to him as is, by nature, a very private person. For those below he rarely has more than a word of greeting; in his world view, they don't matter. Those above his station are the objects of his envy and emulation. He studies their customs and actions even as he wishes them ill. Although he is comfortably well-off and could even retire if he lived modestly, Thomas always dreams of greater wealth than he has now. Good business sense has carried him to his present station in life. Unfortunately, growth requires either risk, which he is unwilling to take, or cooperation with other businessmen, whom he does not trust. So he is trapped where he is, contemptuous of the less wealthy and spiteful of the millionaires.

However, he never expresses these sentiments in public. Rather, he is polite to a fault. He is a perfect gentleman: he knows how to dance, does it well, opens doors for the ladies, wears tasteful suits, never drinks too much. All these social customs have become second nature to him through study and practice.

History: Thomas was born into a middle class family. His father owned and operated a button factory. He was an enterpreneur, a case of 'rags to riches' that hadn't quite achieved the riches. From his father, Thomas inherited the factory and the dream of becoming wealthy; from his mother, good sense and sensibility.

Being an only child, Thomas was carefully groomed for future ownership of the factory and became acquainted with the ins and outs of button manufacturing at an early age. It was impressed on him that all this would eventually be his, but also that it was a responsibilty not to be taken lightly. He was attentive in school and did well, and his grades allowed him to attend a good college.

Waldemar von Perchafen and Thomas Harper crossed paths at this time, when Tom was still a young upstart looking for connections with money. He knew that social contacts were everything in the world of business. Having quickly identified Waldemar von Perchafen as such a contact, he put all his energy into becoming a member of his "inner circle". Through the years, Tom continued to keep in touch with his "friend." It wasn't always easy - the social conventions and banquets that the wealthy frequent come at a steep price. Thomas always felt like the poor relative at these conventions. Plus, if he was honest with himself, he frankly detested the man for his wealth and how he had earned it - by doing nothing. Still, Perchafen's name carried huge prestige and brought Thomas returns again and again. Tom made wise investments and bought smaller factories to diversify his empire, and he was successful. His wealth and popularity grew. For some time, he enjoyed being a highly eligible bachelor, and then chose to marry a duke's daugher.

His new wife, Celia, made it clear at the start that she disapproved of Perchafen. She couldn't (or didn't want to) understand why Thomas had to keep up relations with someone so odious. For maybe the first time in his life, Tom put personal matters before business and withdrew from Perchafen's close circle. For the last few years, he has seen Perchafen less often than usual, maybe twice a year. Now he sorely regrets it.

It gravely wounds his pride to ask Waldemar von Perchafen for anything, but this is his intention when he accepts the invitation and the arduous trip to snowbound Manitoba. He sees the hunting party as a chance to regain the wealthy man's affection and ask him for a large loan. One of his recent deals has fallen through disastrously (embarrasingly) and even his credit with the banks will not cover the loss. Little does he know that others will have their eyes on Perchafen's money...

Deadly sin: Envy (see personality above)

Infinite Meditation: Very nice, very nice. You can edit if you want, but it is perfectly fine as it is. ACCEPTED. Oh yes, could you add the "Perchafen paragraph" to your history?

Z34Guy: Are you ever gonna fill out that SU?

Rabbit: What a wonderful SU! It has everything! Of course you are ACCEPTED!

I feel sort of sick writing this after Thanksgiving.

    Name: Dmitri Pasternak
    Gender: Male
    Age: 36
Appearance: Dmitri is 5'8" and weighs approximately 380 lbs. He resembles nothing so much as a half-melted gumdrop, a hopeless mountain of jellied flesh - and that's being kind about it. It probably really isn't the excess weight in itself that makes him seem so pathetic, though. It all lies in his bearing, his slumped posture tinged with a timidity so strong that it often verges on pure animal fear, along with the unmistakeable stink of despair.

Although his profuse flab is undoubtedly a vital and commanding part of his overall appearance, it might somehow be easier to describe Dmitri's facial features if one were to ignore it and describe how he might look as a thin man (if that could be imagined). This is because his copious folds of pale and patchy flesh seem to somehow obscure any identifying features besides the pure fact of his obesity. He has a strange, homogenous quality to him. His fat content is his body, in a manner of speaking - it isn't in temporary residence, like it sometimes appears on pregnant women or otherwise thin people who fall into depression. At first glance there hardly appears to be anything else to him.

He does have a pair of watery, pale blue eyes, an indistinct nose, a vague stub of a chin, and a weak mouth, but this is easily forgettable - anyone meeting him for the first time would be hard-pressed to describe him afterwards as anything other than "that enormously fat man" or some politer equivalent. He has no discernible trace of hair anywhere on his body besides a thin thatch of blond atop his head, lovingly parted and combed and glistening like a waxed apple.

Occupation: Grade A Loser who lives at home with his parents. But they're pretty rich, so that's nice.

Personality: He hates himself and he's a compulsive eater (the million-dollar question is, which one is the cause and which the effect?), but the fun doesn't stop there! As one might imagine Dmitri has never been in possession of a strong will, probably due to a combination of a stressful and strange childhood and his stressful and strange parents. He has a low tolerance for any sort of pain and is very dependent on others, namely his parents and servants, to survive. He's certainly pampered, but his gentle and timid nature has perhaps saved him from going down the arrogant bully road and landed him more on the crybaby side of things. He's not a mean or cruel person and he doesn't really wish others ill, but he is patently fearful and therein lies his potential for manipulation, and possibly evil.

He obviously eats too much, and drinks when he can get it, although alcohol is not readily obtained in his orthodox household. He can hardly look himself in the mirror most days. It's hard for him to socialize with anyone other than his immediate family and their familiar hired staff given his low self-esteem. At parties he mainly ends up - guess what? - popping hors d'oeuvres and downing martinis like there's no tomorrow.

Strengths and weaknesses: His strengths include eating, eating, eating, holding his alcohol (although he somehow always manages to exceed his impressive capacity during his periodic binges), and eating. He has not discovered any other talents he may possess because his parents are weird and clingy and he hasn't ever been to college or held a job or even had a real hobby.

Weaknesses? How about overeating, strong tendency toward alcoholism and pathological addictions in general, astronomically low self-esteem, poor physical health/fitness, and a general fear of just about everything.

History: Dmitri's story really starts with his parents, who grew up poor in a rural village in northern Russia. They were unfortunate enough to grow up during a horrendous famine, which shaped their personalities irrevocably and certainly affected their attitudes toward nourishment. Dmitri's father, Alexei, was an extremely bright young man who received a scholarship to study at St. Petersburg State University when he was eighteen. He took Dmitri's mother Katerina, whom he had married just about a year before, and received a degree in business science. He felt he had what it took to make it far in the delicate, cut-throat world of commerce but saw little opportunity to do so in Tsarist Russia.

The family immigrated to the United States, where Dmitri's father worked ceaselessly to establish himself as an up and coming business magnate, managing a chain of manufacturing plants of various packaged foods. When Dmitri was born, his parents were already quite wealthy, and making use of that wealth primarily by purchasing obscene amounts of food. Alexei and Katerina had developed a safe, comfortable band of paunch themselves, although their emaciated souls shone through in their eyes and they always seemed more like famished people hiding in fat, rich bodies. Their son, on the other hand, was clearly a naturally fat child - whether he was born that way or soon became so after some time in his parents' care is uncertain. His parents called him a gift from God and showered them with all the affection they could give.

Dmitri grew up isolated from other children, and eventually from other humans in general. The dinner table was a revered place for the Pasternaks - anyone who sat down had to finish their heaping servings, and asking for more was encouraged. Dmitri's parents never violently forced him to eat, it was true, but their horribly pained looks whenever he hesitated over a bite were more than enough. And in the end, that was what it was all about: guilt. He felt guilty when he did eat, guilty when he didn't, guilty when he tried not to both because he ultimately failed to control himself and because he knew he would disappoint his parents.

The Pasternaks, being a very rich and powerful family in the business world, were necessarily quite social and held many get-togethers. Despite being foreigners - whispers about their humble and mysterious beginnings, especially the uncertainty of their possible Jewish ancestry, flitted always about the edges of their social circle - they were fairly well-regarded among the local rich-and-powerful crowd. They were careful enough to conceal their few eccentricities, including their rituals concerning food, thus presenting a relatively acceptable and harmless image to the American families they entertained. Dmitri was miserable at these events, which he was forced to attend. He did, however, make one "friend" through a series of parties and introductions to his father's business acquaintances' families: one Waldemar von Perchafen, who has since their shared boyhood exercised a sort of power through fear and admiration over Dmitri. Dmitri feels inferior compared with his infinitely more confident companion and their shared circle of "friends" and acquaintances, but also grateful to him for being practically the only person in the world besides his parents to pay him any attention. He has a certain resentment born out of jealousy toward the young heir as well, one that could well manifest itself in a malevolent sort of greed. A hunger, you could almost call it...

    Deadly Sin: Gluttony
