Can i trade between firered and emerald even without getting the ruby and sapphire?

What the? No, you can't trade with Hoenn without both Sapphire and Ruby, even with Diamond. of course, having the National Dex is required in both to trade, but if you want to trade to any other GBA game than FR/LG, you need the Sapphire and the Ruby.

You get the national dex after you get the saphire and ruby. There is a chain of quests on the islands that require you to have a rainbow pass. After you complete those quests, you get a network time maching thing, and the national pokedex. Then you can trade with R/S/E

U need the sapphire and Ruby to get to lv. 2 trade, which is trading to ruby+sapphire.

Then, I think u have to get the emerald to get to lv.3 trade, which is trading to emerald.
