i just started playing so this is prob a dumb question. I wanna evolve my haunter into gengar and import some other guys over. How do i trade with my brothers GBA?

Hate to break it to ya, but DS games cant trade with GBA ones. You can import GBA pokemon onto the DS once you've got the national dex, but you cant physically trade them.

Pal Park gets the pokes on your game card. It's at the end of route 221, and is a flying location.

Just get the pokes you want to trade (I always put them on emerald and clone) and scroll down to Migrate from (GBA game). The pokemon cannot know an HM as you select them. Migrate, confirm that they'll be removed etc. Go to your D/P save file, Fly to Pal Park, go in catch your pokemon and save and have fun with ur old GBA pokemon.

There's a better guide in the D/P FAQ, Second post

    What chonlel said :)
Bear in mind you have to import 6 at a time, and they appear in different areas depending on their type (Eg water pokes wont appear in both water areas, the big one signifies sea the smaller signifies lake). Some pokes take longer to appear depending on their rarity
