Video Game Series you'd wish died off?

As the title suggests, a what are some of the video gaming series that you wish come to a close already, to move on with newer projects? In other words, if you could, if you had the power to discountinue a series, which one would you choose to, and why?

I don't know about discontinuing, but I would certainly refocus CoD. They used to be pretty alright and have a decent story. Multiplayer was an afterthought and the story was the focus, now days everything has flip flopped and the game is the same rehashed crap now.

Pokemon.

(Haha, just kidding!)

In all seriousness though, Halo and Call of Duty need to die. They might have been good back when they focused on story as well as multiplayer but all they are now are just cash grabs centered around the fact that people keep buying the latest versions of the game even when not much has changed at all. The worst part is the games come out on a yearly basis, and when they do they render the older ones completely obselete, making your older purchase a waste.

I could say the same about the sports games but then again those at least have a reason to be made every year.

FIFA, it's the same sodding thing over and over again with little to no changes. Purest form of cashgrab (well duh, made by EA) with even microtransactions in them. A triple A title with microtransactions... that just screams cashgrab imo :P

About the CoD thing, idk if many of you know, but there's like 3 companies that work on it these days: Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer and Treyarch, they get like 3 years each before they have to release their game. Not to defend CoD, cause it's still a below average game even if they get 3 years to work on a title.

I'd agree with you on COD but not Halo. Halo should have stopped at 3 but there has always been around _ year and a half to 2 year gap with Halo games. Halo 5 looks pretty interesting from a story standpoint as well. I'm not defending it even if it looks like I am but Halo does a damn better Job than COD.

As for me Nintendo don't need to kill them off but mario, zelda, animal crossing etc etc a lot of their major franchises just need a breather. They need a new IP so that their other ones can have a break so they can refocus and strive to do better. I have nothing against Nintendo IPs but they no how to overuse them. They just need to space them out a bit for once.

XD You guys wasted no time in the COD bashing...I'd personally kill Gears of War myself.
But since there's a lot of criticism flying in the direction of Halo & FIFA I think Ima just leave

Call of Duty, needs to go.

I've never played it, because they all look the same to me.
And, i feel it should really stop with whatever one comes out this year.
They're just raking in money every November, with a so-called "new game".

Guess I will be joining in on the CoD bashing. I may not have played the majority, except a couple, but as a gamer, I'm tired of seeing news for the same game over and over; there's nothing particularly substantially different in any of them recently. Trying to milk every penny out of it until everyone gives up on buying them, but they know there will always be an audience for shooters, for now.

Also, not a fan of virtual sports games so personally, I'd like to see them disappear.

When Did Halo achieve yearly release status?

Anyway, there are no titles that I think need to die.

...Halo doesn't change much?

Halo changed WAY too much. That's why Reach and Halo 4 are god awful. They made everything way too bloated and forgot that Halo's appeal is in its easiness to pick up and play while remaining deep despite its simplicity. Halo is a run and gun series, but now it's trying to go after the COD audience with Halo 4.

There's a reason people still play Halo 3, and why the Master Chief Collection screw up is a really big deal.

i really don't think Animal Crossing needs to die, or even a breather. it only has one game for every new system, and every installment so far has made significant improvements since the last game. and well, while a lot of references to Animal Crossing are made in other games (like with the new Mario Kart DLC), i really don't think that takes up so much of Nintendo's time and workforce that they couldn't focus on other IPs. in fact, a large part of the team that developed Animal Crossing New Leaf then went on to create Nintendo's brand new Splatoon.
Mario and Zelda are definitely more like that, and so i do agree with Mario... but to be honest i enjoy Zelda games far too much to tell them to calm down (。 >艸<)

and yeah i'll jump on the CoD bandwagon c: i'd also say FIFA but i suppose it's kinda necessary to bring out a new one every year to keep up?
and i have a secret grudge towards Youkai Watch because it's treading on Pokémon territory and i dislike LEVEL-5 for pushing Fantasy Life and Layton onto mobile devices now :c

Outside of the mandatory CoD mentions, Final Fantasy. Like, there's no reason to call it "Final" when there's always another game. I feel like Squenix needs to work on something else, something that's not Final Fantasy or something similar (like Bravely Default). Considering how much they strayed from the original FF concepts, they could even go for something that's not an RPG for a change. I mean, when I think about SE, all I can come up with is FF and DQ (which I'm not a fan of).

Ah, I'm sorry. The only things I really know about the Halo franchise come from the commercials. ><

But the advertising executives are treating it like a new title comes out once a year. All the commercials focus on the multiplayer aspect, and they make it look like Call of Duty with Space Marines. No mention of the single player mode, no mention of any new features... it's the same as the CoD commercials, just in space.

Final Fantasy's title is based off the fact that the original game in the series was meant to be SquareSoft's last title before it went bankrupt. It thankfully wasn't the last title they ever made. But I agree; they need to stop making them for a while. Final Fantasy just plain isn't Final Fantasy anymore, and it's not because they strayed from the main concepts the series used, like being in a medieval setting or having sentinent crystals. Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII didn't have a lot of the concepts the older titles had, and they were quite good. The main problem stems from the fact they're not focusing on a story or fun anymore. Final Fantasy was always known for its meaningful stories and characters that got you hooked and engrossed you much like a book would. Later Final Fantasy games didn't have this; they were more hit and miss with the stories and characters and even the fun aspects of the games were lacking. There's a reason they say X was the last great Final Fantasy game.

I think Ubisoft needs to rethink Assassin's Creed. They love to milk it, but this milking comes at the expense of quality. I'd stop with the yearly releases and make one game every two or three years.

When it comes to video game series video game series that I wish died off, I am another that wishes that happened to the Call of Duty series. I would have liked it to die off after Modern Warfare 3. Besides the Modern Warfare games in that series, the only other games that interest me are the World War II ones, and there has not been a Call of Duty game that is set during World War II since World at War. Other than the Call of Duty series, I wish the Madden series died off.

While I'm generally a CoD fan, I'd kill it in an instant. I would have stopped at Bo2. That was the last good one. Ghosts was just the worst, and AW isn't all that great imo.

I'd kill Halo too.
And GoW.
And FIFA.
And Final Fantasy.

Call of Duty was the first thing that came to my mind, I see almost everyone has the same sentiment lel... But I wish there wasnt any more FIFA, EA Sports crap because I'm fed up with those, like srsly I dont get sports video games :/
