What did you think of the September 12 Nintendo Direct?

Mixed. Started kinda weakly - sure, I'll likely end up seeing the next Mario movie but I'm not salivating over it, and knew it'd happen at some point. I already played SMG1 on the Switch this year, and have SMG2 on my Wii U so will probably just play it there. And the rest of the Mario stuff was eh for me. (Yet to even get the DK game let alone worry about paying for its DLC; the former will probably happen sometime.) Mario tennis is after a spat of meh/disappointing mario sports titles, so quite wary.

Some stuff toward the end was more up my alley. New fire embul! Although I ought to play more FE3H paths eventually I suppose.

DQ7 remake is another reminder I ought to play a DQ sometime, FF7 on Switch 2 sounds interesting to maybe try (they later confirmed the rest will also come to it). And not played a metroid prime but samus has some cool wheels now.

Pokemon stuff was cool until for the Z-A stuff the fine print came out. But hey, new spinoff that isn't a mobile title!!

Only one game has my attention, but since it's the next Fire Emblem, that makes the whole Direct worth it, I guess I finally have a reason to buy a Switch 2, lol

I might give Super Mario Galaxy 1&2 a try - I've typically strayed away from platformers, but after playing games like Princess Peach Showtime and Infinity Nikki in the past couple years, maybe some of the rust is coming off of my platforming skills and I might not be terrible now?

Not really interested in anything else announced, but I'm used to that since the niche anime-style dating sims/visual novels that I often play typically don't make it onto Directs.

my reaction didn't really match the responses and excitement around the direct I saw from others.
I found it a bit boring myself personally.
nintendo really hasn't sold me on the switch 2 gen at all yet, I still feel like I'm waiting for those big announcements that are gonna make me wanna get it but they seem to just not be coming.
maybe the switch 2 will feel more worth getting to me a couple years into this gen, idunno

Positive solely because of Fire Emblem. Looked solid from what little bit was shown. Hopefully reduces some of general grinding from Three Houses. Evidently made another overworld for you to run around in. Hopes for something closer to Fates (or Engage) than Three Houses on that. Wants to play the missions, not fish or do push-ups. At least make the unit factor into the minigame, if you insist on having minigames.

Indifferent on most of the rest. A few comments:
  • Yoshi game: Nice art style. Imagines being bored by the gameplay.
  • Pokopia: Eh. Probably does whatever the Pokemon want. Likely builds the exact same town as everyone else. Leaves the game feeling dry and boring. Needs someone else around to put effort into the creative side, sort of like with Animal Crossing or Minecraft.
  • Virtual Boy: Was not going to play this, as a Switch Online thing. Asks for $25-30 just for the cardboard model to play it even kind of "properly". Would not pay that much for an actual Virtual Boy with all the games.
  • Kirby Air Riders: Another Direct? What else is left to talk about? Is there a campaign/story mode? Certainly needs it for a $70 game.
  • Kirby amiibos: $50? Will be hard-pressed to get $5 of enjoyment.
  • Bananza DLC: Would probably like that DLC. Does not own the game (and is not super interested to either).

And the negative: Legends Z-A. Revealed fine megas (with Delphox as the best). But $30 DLC for a game not out yet for a month? And also online player versus player for those Kalos megas? Leaned "No" on this game already. Tilts even further in that direction now. Cannot help but wonder if the base game has been hamstrung to squeeze more money out of people.

Extremely low lows and a couple of high highs, but the best I feel I can say is "almost mixed." The most I was realistically expecting was news on Tomodachi Life, and even then, I wasn't exactly sure what they could've said to sell me on it any more than I already was.
Metroid Prime 4 is always nice to see, especially now that it has a release date, though I'm not looking forward to what seems to be an open world approach I'm gathering from this new trailer.
The rest of my qualms really boil down to price points. I haven't heard heard great things from my friends who have played the Bananza DLC, amplified by the fact it's $20 when many people have compared it to Super Mario Odyssey's Balloon World, which was a free update.
I already have the Galaxy games, but I definitely wouldn't pay $70 (and especially wouldn't pay $40 each) for them in the modern day if I didn't. The physical story book is a fun novelty, not sure why they opted to exclude the new pages that the releases are getting after announcing that?
Everyone's said their take on Legends Z-A, and so have I. $30 pre-release DLC for a Pokemon game is ridiculous, no doubt about it. Advertising base game content and then sneakily paywalling it with the online subscription requirement after the reveal feels just as scummy. I really can't say I'm all too excited for this game.
Now, I am excited for that new Fire Emblem. Maybe a little cautiously, since Three Houses could get a little mixed for me at times, and this is clearly in the same vein as it, but I practically grew up on this series, so I'm gonna be excited no matter what.

Also, for whatever reason, exclusive to the Japanese Direct was an announcement for a Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection. Very excited for that as well, for a couple reasons. While I do already have the Star Force games myself, it's always really cool to see these sorts of things, in my opinion. And because every new Mega Man collection means we take another step closer to a Mega Man Legends collection... :p

There was a lot of stuff in there that I was either indifferent to or could appreciate, but don't think it's for me. The big ones for me are Z-A and the new Fire Emblem.

I'm disappointed by the fine print of Legends Z-A. I'm still looking forward to the game itself, but there's definitely some things I'm not happy about whatsoever.

I'm very, very excited for Fire Emblem. It looks amazing and it's set in the same world as Three Houses which is one of my favourite games ever for added points.

At last, Fire Emblem: FOUR Houses! It's no Genealogy remake, but as the first FE title on the Switch 2, I vastly prefer having this instead. This would be what would sell me on getting my own Switch 2.

Pokemon Pokopia: there definitely was a moment where I thought to myself "What in the seven hells is this?', but outside of the Kanto pander (again), I'm becoming more and more intrigued by it. Not a Day 1 buy, but if I find that it has a good amount of content then I'll definitely pick it up at some point.

Legends Z-A hype has been doused a little for me personally. The biggest bummers were no backwards-compatibly (what's the purpose of Home at that point?) and DLC already being announced. A large part of why Legends Arceus was cool was because it had all of the content right off the bat. Z-A won't even let you (supposedly) catch all the region's Mythicals without the DLC. It feels like they're using DLC as paid Mystery Gifts at this point.

Metroid Prime 4 is looking better and better. I have high hopes it's going to be a great experience, now with added VROOM-VROOM.

And finally, Mega-Man Star Force is a huge drop! Can't believe they only showed it on the JP Direct, it's an awesome series in its own right.
[PokeCommunity.com] What did you think of the September 12 Nintendo Direct?

Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this Direct, especially after being baited by Fire Emblem for so long.

Pretty mixed. When it was first announced, my first reaction was that will finally get the release date of Switch 2. Only to slowly realize it's already out for few months... Yeah, that's how great the Switch 2 era was so far...

I was expecting another bunch of uninteresting farming sims and Nintendo delivered. Pokétopia had an interesting idea, but it's Pokémon game, so I'm expecting the lowest quality game riddled with microtransactions.

I feel like the only stuff that caught my attention were Monster Hunter Stories and the new Fire Emblem, but I don't think they are enough for me to get Switch 2. I'm not really that interested in ports of games I can (and in most cases already did) play on better hardware, so like 95% of this Direct wasn't really for me. Mario's anniversary was cool, especially the opening sequence, but again, Galaxy and Galaxy 2 aren't really that appealing, when I can play them elsewhere for a fraction fo the price they are selling them.
