What does RPG maker have to offer?

I plan on making my game with Hackmews tools, but I was wondering what RPG maker is, and if it'll be easier but still offer the same customizability Hackmews offers. So in short, should I make a game with Hackmews or RPG maker?

The simplest answer is that HackMew's stuff is for hacking ROMs, and RPG Maker is a piece of PC game-making software. The two are completely different.

Your decision really boils down to what you want to create (it's difficult to do any significant edits to ROMs, particularly scripting), and whether you want a game playable only on the PC or downloadable into a ROM cartridge.

If you're willing to learn scripting (as languages go RGSS is one of the easier ones), then RPG Maker can give you much more freedom to do what you want.

There's also the Essentials kit, the bare bones of a Pokémon game written for RPG Maker XP. So it's not like you'll have to write the whole game from scratch if you choose RPG Maker XP.

Ah...Well, I thank you sincerely for the information, you've given me all I needed. I want to hack ROMs so Hackmews is the way to go for me. Thank you once again. Now back to learning about how to script events....
