I'm a homosexual boy but I'm rather surprised on how Pokecommunity nearly praises gays and gay rights. The ammount of homosexual discussion threads is outstanding.

Do you not think some people take sexual orientation way too seriously?

Maybe everyone here is just educated on the subject and not ignorant or bigoted.

Yes but why are they so concerned? Gay people are just like heterosexuals and bisexuals, they aren't a separate species!

Tell that to the people against gay marriage, not me. We wouldn't have to have so many discussions if everyone else in the world would treat homosexuals like heterosexuals are treated. Then it would be a "norm" and not something you have to see blow up in the news all the time. It's not people here treating homosexuals like aliens, as like you said, most people here are for gay marriage and rights. It's the older people, overly religious people, those that are uneducated on the matter, etc. If you go around the forums as much as me, you notice a good majority of PC either are not heterosexual, vote democrat, don't live in southern America, and/or don't follow a religion too closely or at all. This is just observation though, so I hope nobody like...takes offense to it. lol

You have to remember that there was a time when LGBT threads were always spammed with hate (and eventually banned) on PC. It's just that the main demographic of PC has matured/changed somewhat, and now we can handle big topics like this for some reason.

I actually brought this up some time ago, on how sometimes people go out of their way to pinpoint others who are opposing homosexuals- when sometimes I feel like the best way to deal with them is to ignore them. To me, people who are LGBT are just people. I'm really happy though, that Pokecommunity is a place where LGBT people can come out, or talk about LGBT issues with their friends here and not feel uncomfortable. However, I do agree with you that there are people out there that can take it way too seriously and try to advocate it way too much. It's like.. I don't care if you like guys or girls or both- just be happy loving who you choose to love. There is certainly a trend in some places where women feign being lesbian because they think guys will find it hot if they kiss other girls- and they do it for attention. That kinda bugs me, because it's almost like it gives the whole thing a bad image. Kiss people you like or wanna kiss- don't kiss for attention :/

The thing about it is that you guys go through a lot more trouble than us straight guys do.

I believe everyone should be treated equally, regardless of orientation. But being as open as you guys are deserves some form of recognition, which is why there is a fair amount of praise for you guys.

I just treat everyone the same because everyone is the same regardless of sexual orientation.

    This is OC.

If you don't want to read about stuff that is topping the news, then stay out. Simple as that.

The OP is acting like its a bad thing sheesh. Its fine Choose what you read then.

No he's not. He's even gay himself. The question is basically why PC, this specific forum, seems to just praise gay rights and, from what I've seen, pretty much go after anyone that is against them. If you read it as him thinking it was a bad thing, then you read it completely wrong.

Well, the internet can be a good way to discuss personal issues with people that you don't regularly get to in real life for one. This is especially the case for those who are insecure or not "out" about their sexuality.

Also, there are numerous news and discussion threads on LGBT issues since homosexuality is becoming a high-profile issue with polarizing views. The number of threads simply mirror the number of propositions, amendments, controversial television/movies/news stories, and personal experiences (the good and bad) that are pertinent to the LGBT people.

Issues like racism, although sometimes discussed on PC, are issues that have a lack of polarity. The vast majority of people regard racism as unacceptable and the limitation of rights to racial minorities to be an atrocity. Since almost all people are on one side of the issue it is not something that we see as much, but we will encounter a few controversial stories that pertain, including the Tray Von Martin case from time to time.

So, I don't think that there are too many LGBT related threads, and if I did, I would just not read them. I am not interested in reading about life science threads, but I don't think I should voice that there are too many of those threads, and hence they should not be created.

I agree with this tbh. I think there's waaaay too many threads on it. xD It's kind of gone from "we're gay let's discuss!" to "we're gay MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THAT RIGHT NOW!!!", and honestly I think all of the discussion that goes on can sometimes have the opposite affect of what's intended. Some of the stuff I've read in these 'homosexual threads' is even verging on heterophobic and that's certainly not what should be happening; but maybe that's just me reading too much into things. :p

But yeah I 100% support gay rights ect, especially since I'm gay myself, but I think there is a point where it gets out of hand haha.

I think you just looked around at the right time. Gay marriage was in the news in America all over 'cause our President just said he supported it and one of our states just outlawed it. In general it's an issue in America and since a lot of PC members are from America you just kinda expect it will find its way here.

It is a lot of discussion for what's branded as a Pokemon forum, sure. But, they fall within the rules. So, I'm not bothered. I take part in the discussions anyway
