What's more important

Okay I'm doing some EV training and as usual I came to a delema when it comes to the Defensive stats and HP. So which one is more important?
People rap on Shuckle because of its low HP, but some people don't Like Blissey because of its low base Defense. I'm a little confused.

If say you can have a maximum of 330ish sp.Def/Def and 370ish HP, which maximum is more valuable?

Dusclops has low HP also and see how it is in the game.

You could split the EV's. But it really depends on which pokemon it is.

Also, I would take the 330 Special Defense. It does have it's benefits.

Actuaully it's good to give it both. Max on Special Defense and HP.

Man this is making it hard. I've spent the last two days (when I'm not playing hockey or Basketball or Soccer or Tennis) trying to make the perfect EV set for Togekiss. I need it to be a Sp. sweeper who can take hits too.
I'm in such a dilema. I need Sp. Atk. Speed is always good. To take hits it needs some sort of Defense. O man I'm thinking too much.

Its hard to have a Sp.Sweeper that is powerful, and takes a lot of hits. It really up to personal preference.

Max HP before defenses, as a general rule. For things like Dusknoir and Shuckle, this is a must. For things like Blissey, Wobbuffet, and Drifblim, you're supposed to put them in defenses first because they're so much lower than the HP. You don't have to absolutely max HP if the HP and defensive stats are about equal, just enough for maximum Leftovers recovery (divisible by 16). If you have any EVs left over from a sweeper, put them in HP. If you're trying to survive something specific, like a certain attack from a certain Pokemon, you don't need to follow this at all. Like how Dugtrio started getting 48 SDef EVs to survive Jolteon Hidden Power Grass/Ice and OHKO it.
