I'm at Cerulean city in pokemon yellow. Every time I've played this game, first thing I do is go get bulbasaur. Every time, I got him straight away. Now, I never really had to get pikachu extatic, just mildly pleased, and I've never had to beat Misty first either.

But now, I have pikachu bouncing off the walls he's so happy. This happens frequently by time I reach this part of the game. But for some reason, I can't get bulbasaur! What gives? Sure I haven't beat Misty yet but I usually use bulbasaur for that, so that it gains experience!

Pikachu is super happy but the lady won't give me bulbasaur, when normally she does. Has anyone encountered this issue before, or know how to fix it?

EDIT: I have tried putting pikachu to the front of the party and offering it potions to make it happier, but neither of those solutions worked.

Is Pikachu in the first slot in your party because when that happened to me I moved him to teh first slot of my Party and she gave it to me and try getting into a few more battles and when his hp is full give him potions the game won't let you heal him because his hp is full but it makes it look like you care for him sp he gets happy.

Hmm... I'll try to move it to the first slot, thanks for the suggestion. :)

(not nitpicking, just a pointer - try to break up your sentences a little, commas and full stops. That was a little hard to read)

If I'm correct theirs berries in that game. I think my main method to getting him happy when I played was just giving him health restoring berries in battle.

As Gotron said he should be in the first slot. That also makes him happy. Giving him potions within battle will make his happiness go up, but I think feeding him berries makes it rise more. It could just be me.

As I said pikachu is already happy. I've had him less happy before and still recieved the bulbasaur. There aren't any berries in yellow - those weren't introduced until gold and silver came out.

You Pikachu isn't happy, make him happy then go back.

If it jumps up and down and squeals its not happy? Usually I can get bulbasaur just by having pikachu smile contently.

it is quite strange, but i have something for you to try! , get your pikachu to full health right? and then get a potion. use the potion on him about 25 times (it will say "it wont have an affect"), once youve done that, see if your pikachus mood as changed, either or, go back and try to get your bulbasaur with your pikachu first in your party, make sure to tell me if it works!

Thanks for the advice. I did what you said and it actually worked. First time I've had to get pikachu swimming in love hearts to get the bulbasaur though. That is strange.

But, at least it worked. Thanks again :)
