Well.. so which is it? First generation would be the one with Pikachu.. second would be the one with chikorita, and third would be the one with treecko.. (I'm not too sure about the fourth generation though).

So which is it for you people? I'd personally prefer the the first generation.. it's really classic. =D

You really should add a poll to this. I dunno, I like the first with all the potential, but the third has better ish writing, or attempted better writing to various degrees (except Aqua/Magma and some of the Gym Battles) in order to apologize for Johto. Isn't it a little presumptious to wonder about the fourth generation as we've had what? Almost 10 episodes into it? I'm just saying is all.

Do you mean what seasons of the show did I like? Or the generation that was showcased for those collective seasons, like Johto being for "Johto Journies", "Johto League Champions", and "Master Quest"? Because it isn't really good to lump them all together. As in my opinion, Johto had some major weak points in terms of plot and writing. (See answer below.)

Because each question has a different answer. I'll just give both.

So far, I have to say that the first generation was the best. To watch little Charmander evolve into a big bad Charizard was a treat. It was also great to see how Ash coped with learning that not all Pokémon stayed the same personality-wise. This was also when the Pokémon had real personality. Pikachu actually left Ash's shoulder to do more than the random Thunderbolt to save the day. Bulbasaur set the world on edge when he refused to evolve on his own decision. This was really the generation that had few faults being shown.

The worst season, without a doubt, would be "Johto League Champions". Filler upon filler upon filler... There was no break between one random trainer to the next. And they all basically had the same problem that was solved the same way: lack of confidence; beating Team Rocket. Gyms were dozens of episodes apart, and Brock and Misty were sent sailing into the background of cardboard-dom.

While I particullary enjoyed "Master Quest" for being the last hurrah for Misty and Gary as characters, and a certain character showing up for the last six episodes, it was still with the occasional filler.

In my opinion, the first season with May, "Advanced" was the best, from what I have seen so far. It was fresh, and had gone back to the days of old. Ash was just "starting out" again, and there was a new trainer on the block. We learned along with May about the new Pokémon and about the world. It was interesting, to say the least/for lack of a better term.

Yes, I agree. But I was just asking to make sure. I didn't have to worry though, as my post covers both possibilities that I thought of. Well, miyo can take my post and pick out whatever answer was wanted.

If the OI are grouped with the with the 1st, I prefer the 1st. I didn't like the first season all that much, but I loved the second, so I guess it balances out.

The 2nd(Johto) was my 2nd favorite. Not too much I hated, a few things I liked.

    3rd: Max = No.

4th: Should be tons better, so I guess 4th gets 3rd place.

Johto ish teh best of all to me.
Teh main characters(I mean main Pokemon) are so kawaii. Ive always preffered that season because most of my favourite Pokemon come from there..Discluding my main favourite who is apart of Hoenn which is Torchic XD. And Hoenn would have to be my second favourite because teh Pokemon are teh second cutest =]

    <3 Nica--Ish always lurving Johto

i like the 1st and the 3rd generation

Kanto and Jhoto are still my favorites out of them all,The new ones are also awesome but I prefer the older pokemon and it's series

    oops.. actually, I was really talking about the generations of the Pokemon.. not so much of the series.. ><;;

I was really asking whether you guys prefered R/B/Y pokemon to G/S/C pokemon to R/S/E to P/D.. hahas.. oops.. I must have been really bad at my expressions.. :P

Then perhaps you should have posted in the General Pokémon section, rather than the TV section? That's where the confusion starts...

well, I'm not too sure either.. cos' I was really thinking about the pokemon characters in the series when I started this thread..

Ive only really seen the First Generation so well i go with the First, I like the others although ive barely seen much of the other generations.

i liked the story of generation 1, but i really hated the animation, so... Hoenn is better

Yup.. I have to agree that the animation has improved over generations.. but the first generation pokemon are still very classic.. Animation wise, no doubt the later generations were better.. but I'll still stick to my choice: generation one..

Somehow.. I tend to remember how charmander evolved to charmeleon and to charizard.. and also how caterpie evolved to metapod and then to butterfree.. these were really sweet parts.. but I wouldn't remember how chikorita evolved into bayleef, or how phanpy would evolve to donphan in battle frontier..

somehow, generation one pokemon stays fresh in my mind.. lols :P

Thanks for clarifying that for me cause I don't watch the anime. For the games, which I dig, I'd say G/S/C simply because Typhlosion and Elekid were introduced

Well.. I'll go a lil off topic here..
I adored G/S/C the most.. perhaps because there were more gyms to battle.. If only its animation were as good as those in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald..
Moreover, G/S/C continues from R/B/Y.. all the pokemon from R/B/Y could be traded to G/S/C if I didn't recall wrongly.. which makes it fun. xD

Yeah, there was a sense of continuation, where after you face & defeat the best in your region, you could travel to another region to defeat their greatest trainers. The new games could have been even better if you could travel to the previous regions

yeah.. besides, it's the battling and the training part of the game that makes me thrilled most of all.. there were more chances of battling in G/S/C.. there was this battling place in Viridian and also not forgetting Red/Ash at Mt. Silver.. it was really good training for my POkemon..

Despite i really like the first generation alot, as it is classic, for me it has to be the third generation as it has my favurite pokemon in it so therefore there is no competition.
