I have a friend who is new to pokemon. To tell you the truth, she knows barely anything about it. I showed her a few pictures of pokemon, and she seems to be interested in the fire pokemon. I asked her if she wanted to get a pokemon game and become a fire trainer. She said yes. I was thinking of buying the game for her, but I'm not sure which game to get. Should I get her Ruby/Sapphire, the worst of the gameboy advanced games, Fire Red/Leaf Green, the original game re-made but the Elite Four and many other things are harder, or Emerald, a better version of Ruby/Sapphire but has the Battle Fronteir. I was just asking, because mabye you guys could give me the best advice about this.

Fire Red/Leaf Green is the best game for beginners because it actually has a Help function for those who are new. You should get her Fire Red since it has a Charizard on the front. Plus, FR/LG has more Fire types available than the other games.

You should get her Emerald version since it has more things to do in. But the Battle Frontier is very hard to beat.

I agree with aragorn. Have them do FireRed/LeafGreen first, and then get Emerald once they understand what is going on.

You should get your friend Fire Red. It's just like the classics and there are alot of Fire Pokemon on that version as well, she should start with Charmander since she wants to be a fire Pokemon trainer. Then when she's able to understand it more, get her R/S/E. FR/LG is a good starting choice for beginners.

I found firered and leafgreen a lot harder than ruby/sapphire. Personally, I would buy her Ruby.

Don't worry, I won't just give a random suggestion *cough*like the others *cough*

The first one would be, ruby/sapphire I found particularly easy, the pokedex is A LOT EASIER to complete, a simple 200 (if you don't get the national dex) which could be easily obtained with sapphire. Groundon looks amazing though another thing you could ask her is what is her favourite fire pokemon type?

(e.g. ho oh, charizard, blaziken, groundon?)

That is my advice, hope it helped.

If she likes Fire Pokémon and is new to Pokémon, I'd say Leafgreen (it does have one more Fire type than Firered =P).

Sure Emerald is neat with the Battle Frontier and all, but it's just too hard for a beginner. Firered also has that user friendly in-game help system and Teachy TV.
    So, yea... Leafgreen or Firered.
