    Hey.
I have just bought the German Edition of Pokemon Diamond... (Yea, I am coming from germany..)
I already have the first badge and I can go to that WiFi-Thingy Centre, so I want to play and trade online.
The Problem is that I use an Notebook and go into Internet with an extern DSL-Modem from T-Online, but I have an built-in W-LAN Card (Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG).
Is it possible to play Online with my DS via the W-LAN card?
I already tried it with Ad-Hoc.. The DS is too dumb to use it (even If Nintendo planned to make the firmware like that..).

    TIA,
    l0calhost!? ^^

Btw: I have a friend with an W-Lan Router.. but he is using WPA2 and he is playing WoW all the time.. (He seems to use W-LAN, but he is only 2-3 Metres away from the Modem..)

The only way of getting the DS online through a small ad-hoc connection is by buying the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector. It can't detect any other types.

Or, yes you can go through the chance of using the router; just make sure the encryption type is supported with the DS.

And since this is tech-related, I'll move it to the right forum.

    What are you on about.

A W-LAN card, Usb adaptor w/e RECIEVES a wireless signal. Therefore the DS cannot detect other types because.. they don't make any signal.

The Wi-Fi Connector just sets up a small network for your ds. 3rd party wi-fi connectors such as the Wi-Fi Max by Datel? Also work for PSP and other wireless devices.

There is a way. Depending on what brand your card is you can swich modes. I can switch from infacture to ad-hoc and back. I've got an Intel one which comes with bluetooth.
