Please note that this offer is valid for any currently enrolled College Student who is taking at least 0.5 credit hours. Thanks
See bottom of post for Countries other than US for your Participation availability.Through the Digital River Windows 7 Offer, Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade and Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Upgrade will be available for students to pre-order starting on September 17th, 2009.
Students who place a pre-order will receive an email on October 22nd, 2009 which will contain a link to access the download of their product. For those who purchased the Backup DVD, the disks will be shipped around this date and a separate shipping confirmation email will be sent confirming the shipment.
Once a pre-order has been placed, students may see a pre-authorization on their credit card records, this is not a charge, it will drop off in time according to their bank's policy regarding pre-authorizations.
Note that you really need to be a current student, having .edu account is not enough.
Who qualifies for the program?
You must have a valid e-mail address at an educational institution ending with the domain suffix .EDU (ie, [email protected]) OR have a valid email address at one of the educational institutions listed here. AND
You must be a student at a U.S. educational institution and must be actively enrolled in at least 0.5 course credit and be able to provide proof of enrollment upon request.
Is this just an upgrade or can it also do a complete install?
From what I read, it can do both. The title is misleading in that case. If someone can verify, please do!
Also, please verify if:
-different upgrade combination may actually be used (I.E. Vista Home to W7 Ultimate, XP Pro to Ultimate)
-the 'upgrade' requires a previous version's installation disc
-this can upgrade from an evaluation/beta version of windows 7.
It also appears that you can get Windows 7 Professional with Virtual XP for the same price (as a digital download).
Just a final run down of what this entails.
1. Digital copy. - you will automatically get a digital download available on Oct. 22nd.
2. You can choose win 7 Professional for the same price. [Click where it says "Need to join your school's network domain? Click here" after you enter you are verified, and you get to the order page]
3. Hard Copy is $13 more, shipping included. (as far as I can tell you also get the digital download as well)
4. You can choose 32bit or 64bit.
5. 1 order per edu email
6. You cannot upgrade from RC/beta of W7.
(there are hacks floating around that can allow this, but it would be better to just re-install and start fresh again)
