As someone who's been spending more time playing games on PC than on console over the past several years, I definitely agree with the idea that it'd make things more accessible not only for people who aren't wanting/interested in console gaming but also for the communities of the games themselves, things like modding communities or Steam discussion pages. So many recent games (Persona 3 Reload being the first example I think of) are ones where people seem to agree that the games are
good, but are missing something, have some sort of performance or bug issues, or are just straight-up missing content that they should include, and oh boy nothing ticks all of those boxes like a Pokemon game. Having greater accessibility for both obtaining the game yourself as well as customizing how you want to play that game (whether it's QoL, mods, or a complete overhaul like a romhack) feels like it's just a huge benefit for the games, the fans, and the overall series.
I think there are a lot of things Pokemon could really elevate if it was brought to something like the PC market. I'm sure things like streaming the games would be made easier, but the big thing for me is the whole communication aspect. The games are so focused on the concept of trading Pokemon between friends, battling online, or doing co-op activities like Join Avenue, Festival Plaza, or BBQs (doesn't matter which generation, honestly) and those have really been unable to reach their full potential being on a console with a smaller playerbase. Yes, Scarlet and Violet are selling well and still seem to have an active playerbase, but I remember having to go out of my way to visit local tournaments or events to fill out things like Join Avenue back in the day, and not only could being online on a very accessible system allow those
major features of the games to flourish, I don't see what's stopping people from taking older generations, bringing them back online, and creating that kind of community again. It's something I think fans have already kind of started to do, but that most people aren't really aware of and could become much larger. Take something like Showdown's previous generations communities for example, I think there's definitely an interest in that kind of thing, and at the very least they can just go "Hey look, nostalgia! Buy the old game!" like we've gotten every so often.
This is definitely the rotten part of my brain speaking but I really haven't been able to let go of the idea that an official Pokemon MMO for PC could have been possible, and that they don't have to constantly let go of older content every single generation to sell new games, there's so much cool stuff in this series that we can't access anymore because of how it's being released. Don't get me wrong, there are
so many problems with the idea of actually doing that, and I'm sure it'd be a nightmare, but I think having the idea in my head at least stands for something.
Basically, yeah I could see Pokemon on PC being pretty good. More accessibility is always good. Can't say I'd ever see them doing it though.
