Gold is the fifth main character of the manga series Pokemon Special/ Adventures. The starter Pokemon he "borrowed" from professor Elm was a Cyndaquil which he nickname as Explotaro. It was named after his mom told him his hair was exploding again. It isn't clear what his first Pokémon actually was, since he grew up in a house full of Pokémon – His neighbors in New Bark Town refer to his family as the "House of Pokémon". He likes playing Pool/billiards, but sometimes he may use his Pokémon to cheat. His favorite idol/DJ is DJ Maryfrom the Goldenrod Raido Station.
He usually wears a pair of goggles and travels on a scooter – originally a skateboard. Instead of throwing/kicking his Poké Balls, he uses a billiard cue to shoot them out. Gold's hobbies include gambling, skateboarding, and trying foods from different cities. Professor Oak sees that while Red has some odd habits, Gold is a lot more immature and mischievous.
Gold's special skill, as noted by Professor Oak, is Pokémon hatching and is known as the "Breeder". He has the ability to draw out the largest potential of a baby Pokémon, having lived with Pokémon his whole life.
At the end of the GSC saga, Gold goes to train with Red on Mt Silver Later, during the Emerald saga, he bonds with Emerald, likely due to their mutual mischievous natures. ​

Playing as Jimmy/Kenta​

Jimmy is the Main Character in the Special Episodes of The Legend of Thunder His Starter Pokemon was Cyndaquil received from Professor Elm of New Bark Town at the same time as friends and Rivals Vincent and Marina(Crystal)
He has a habit of saying "You rock and you rule!" ("OK! Perfect!" as the original) to his Pokémon and giving them a thumbs-up after winning a battle. Jimmy is similar in many ways to Ash He also cares for Pokémon very much. This can be seen in his concern for Raikou when it was injured. He is also determined and never gives up in battle. Like Ash, he is also close to his starter Pokémon, which is now a Typhlosion. He has a battle style that focuses on offense. As such, his Pokémon are trained to take attacks and still keep fighting.
His main goal was to become a strong Pokemon Trainer so that he could protect the kids in New Bark Town, is home town. He also has a crush on Marina which appears to be mutual. Both of them participated in the Silver Conference a full year before Vincent did. ​

Explotaro, Gold's Typhlosion, was the Pokémon Gold had received from Professor Elm. It gave Gold the upper hand while fighting the Mask of Ice at the end of the GSC arc. It debuted as a Cyndaquil in Sneaky Sneasel​

Ataro

Ataro, Gold's Aipom, is one of the family Pokémon at Gold's home that he grew up with. Like Gold, Ataro is mischievous. Ataro's tail allows it to hold items and use many tricks and tactics in battle. It debuted in Murkrow Flies.​

Utaro

Utaro, Gold's Sudowoodo, was captured whilst on a race around Goldenrod City with Whitney, the local gym leader. The two competitors soon reached an enormous tree, that neither of the trainers' Pokémon could move. Suddenly, a large Rhyhorn bursts out and Whitney stupidly tries to stop it, getting herself carried away by it. The strange tree reacted strangely to Poltaro's Water Gun attack and shrinks down to size. Gold then finds out that Sudowoodo was hiding from Rhyhorn and they go after it, defeating it and saving Whitney​

Mantaro, Gold's Mantine, was a Pokémon saved by Gold around the Whirl Islands when Lugia was rampaging. When supported with the Remoraid, Mantaro can glide across the air, allowing Gold to travel aerially. It debuted in Lugia (Part II). ​

Sintaro

Sintaro, Gold's Sunflora, was caught as a Sunkern in Sunshine Sunkern to launch Explotaro's Poké Ball high into the air to defeat a raging Skarmory, using her amazing jumping ability. Sintaro had also been the last one to touch its egg and is the apparent reason for Totaro hatching.

Pichu

Gold's Pichu is the egg that Pika and Chuchu had bred. It hatches in The Last Battle XIV when Gold believes that Oak had no given him an ability which causes it to hatch. It uses the "Super Rising Thunder" attack and managed to crack the GS ball which helped Celebi. In the Emerald arc, it teamed up with its parents, Chuchu and Pikachu, to use Volt Tackle on the Kyogre created by Guile Hideout's wish. ​

Mantaro

Mantaro, Gold's Mantine, was a Pokémon saved by Gold around the Whirl Islands when Lugia was rampaging. When supported with the Remoraid, Mantaro can glide across the air, allowing Gold to travel aerially. It debuted in Lugia (Part II). ​

Gold has multiple Remoraid that are attached to his Mantine for flight. ​

Totaro
​

Gold looked after Totaro as an egg (which he nicknamed Eggy). Professor Elm wanted Gold to look after it. It is one of Gold's strongest Pokémon because of its violent nature. It pick up a lot of Gold's gamberling habits whilst in its egg (Elm wasn't pleased). Togepi was only new-born when it defeated an adult Tyranitar (however it did get badly squashed). Debuted as an egg in My Chubby Teddiursa. ​

This Pokémon was caught by Gold but was not listed in the all character Pokémon listings in the end of Volume 15. It has not been seen since then, so it is possible that it was released.

Jimmy's Pokemon​

Typholosion
​

Typhlosion was Jimmy's starter Pokémon, given to him as a Cyndaquil by Professor Elm. He obtained it on the same day that Vincent got his Chikorita and Marina got her Totodile. Jimmy and Typhlosion are very close to each other.​

Beedrill
​

Jimmy had Beedrill as a Weedle early on, even before he started his Pokémon journey. It had already evolved twice before The Legend of Thunder He used it in a battle against Marina's Jigglypuff, Little Pink, in which Beedrill won. Jimmy relies on Beedrill's speed during battles and flight situations where it proves itself very useful. ​

Beedrill was shown to know three moves: Agility, Twineedle, and Pin Missile.​

Ataro all the way~ Though I like Togetaro (I know they call him "Totaro", but I'm used to "Togetaro" XD) too and his mad gambling skillz :3 I wish the Togepi I hatched were like that ;_;

Oh, right. I can make banners and such if people need them :3 And I know great places for Gold fanart~ Though then again, others know them too...

My fav of Gold's Pokemon would have to be either Pichu (well everyone knows how much I love Pichu) Gold's Pichu especially cause of the tuff of hair on his head imitating the way Gold's hair is, Ataro for his mischief and how he's always chilling on Gold's head and Explotaro as Cyndaquil is my favorite starter. Politaro is also pretty awesome!

Which is your favorite of Gold's Pokemon?

Why must you make me choose? >.< I love them all. Politaro for his hyperness, Sintaro for her jumpiness, Mantaro for the best transportation mode ever, Utaro for that scene when he saved Gold back at the end of GSC, Togetaro for being the most hard core Egg Pokemon in known history, Ataro for resembling Gold in personality so much, Explotaro is pure awesomeness and knows BLAST BURN, and Pichu...*Tackleglomps* He's alive thanks to Gold's ability. Pichu are adorable in the first place. But when they pointed out his hair...XDDDD
